2025-07-19 13:32:59 +0000 UTCSorry if you say this later in the video, or if this isn't the sort of comment people should be making (I'm new sorry) but Iris' parents fled Hong Kong during the 2019/2020 protests that happened IRL. There's a lot of imagery that directly evokes the real protests - the umbrellas + masks particularly, but also the tennis racket hitting a tear gas grenade is based on a well known real image - and the date in those earlier flashbacks is 2020 I think. There's more stuff too like specific language (calling the cops 'dogs', the phrase "Be Water" which was the saying/philosophy of the protest), signage in the flashbacks, other things. Not sure if you've finished the playthrough but I thought that would be useful context you hadn't mentioned up to this point ๐โค๏ธ [edit] omg i literally just reached the end and you talked about it ๐ญ im sorry, this is why I usually wait until I finish to comment. yeah tldr its directly referencing the real events and if you know about the events, it informs the story a bit (but isnt crucial etc)
