New Channel for vlog stuff etc!
Added 2025-06-01 20:40:13 +0000 UTCI'm gonna try moving the new vloggy ranty stuff to a new channel, since YouTube doesn't love it when you mix different kinds of content, but also because this means fans of my video essays can get this bonus content without having to subscribe to a spammy let's play channel. It should be a good idea! the challenge is just getting people to make the jump to the new one.

I think this is a good idea! I follow some subset of the gaming channel and 100% of the video essays and vlog stuff, but it makes sense to separate those too as you already explained. It's easier for me to catch up with anything I missed when the feeds are separated.

2025-06-02 01:57:00 +0000 UTCYou're right that it's challenging to get people to go to a new channel, but uploading weekly rants to the essay channel would be TERRIBLE for it. Each new video essay is a months-long process and its release is a whole event. It's meant to be a big deal. Filling that channel with unscripted slop on a weekly basis just creates brand confusion. People are more likely to unsubscribe because it's not what they signed up for, and they're less likely to even notice the video essays when they come out because they're so used to that channel uploading low effort stuff all the time. No, the essay channel has a level of quality that needs to be protected.

I trust you understand what's best for your channels but functionally people (or at least me) watch your rants and video essays for the same reason: because we value or are interested in your opinions. I don't entirely know how best to optimize your viewership but it seems inevitable that making another channel could alienate some of your viewers that dont pay as close attention to where to find some types of content. Regardless of how it works out though, I'm rooting for your success and on the lookout. 👍
