Beast Complex Video Essay: "Final" Script / Streaming the edit right now

Aaaaalrighty so here's the final script I've landed on, pending any changes that come while I'm recording and editing the video. Much of what was there has been revised even more, and 12 Beast Complex chapters are discussed overall: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1MPo7rfSN7jx71wP_PcQtNAWCEmY55LgWlQlo9oJDalo/edit?usp=sharing

And then there's the scrap pile: 5k words of fragments and tangents and sections I cut out when I decided to stick to a more cohesive thesis like the original Beast Complex video, for the curious: https://docs.google.com/document/d/17xFjNYiZ0jxlAw0oswe3Ddb4_dcJBW4d_4ms_Zwte_E/edit?usp=sharing

I took an interesting approach this time around, just kind of spewing thoughts about everything I came in contact with, including Paru's Graffiti and Drip Drip, taking two months off to make the Sigma Paws video, and then finally coming back to reassess what to keep and what to throw out. As far as what I kept, I think my script was made much better by having a past me write it, and then another me come in to review and edit it all months later. I like how it's gotten fleshed out.

Continuing to experiment with my approach. I'm gonna change how I record these. Every single video essay so far has been recorded from front to back in front of a camera. Yes, even the Annihilation one. It's just that I tried dark lighting and my camera was bad and everything about my setup was bad so I just threw out the video, kept the audio, and then ordered a new camera before I got to the Monster Hunter video.

This time I'm going to record the entire thing at my computer, voice only, which means less struggling with the teleprompter and camera battery life etc. Then, over the course of the editing process, it'll become clear to me which parts need live action and I'll go back and record that later on in the process instead. We'll see how that changes things.

Anyway, I'm gonna be streaming my process. Right now. Recording and editing a video essay takes SO MANY hours of sustained work and I really want to complete it this week, so I'm using the tactic that I've used for the last two essays: streaming my process. The fact that I have witnesses just does a lot to keep me on task. I don't have an ADHD diagnosis but, yes, this is a tactic that people with ADHD use called Body Doubling. I don't particularly try to be entertaining because I'm working-working but people seem to think these are neat. The video will remain available to patreon supporters unless it gets taken down for copyright because I'll be editing anime footage at some points.
