Beastars Behind the Scenes: Your Questions

The Beastars video hit 50k views today! Check it out if you missed it.

I want to make a behind the scenes video for Patreon where I explain some of my process and hardware setup, etc, and I figured I'd make a post where ya'll can ask questions related to the video. It'll help guide what kind of stuff I cover about it, and maybe I'll just do a regular Q&A section too. So just leave 'em here. Gotta do it quick before I forget and delete some of my footage like I did with the Sausage and Annihilation videos.

Beastars Behind the Scenes: Your Questions

i keep thinking of questions and then thinking, "no, that's to personal", so here is what i came up with that wasn't a knee jerk. sex life question. or something like that. ... maybe a question about how you manage social boundaries etc. ? have you ever been to a gay bar? ever do the pride parade? what group would/did you walk with in the parade? general thoughts on dating apps etc?

Do you have any plans to incorporate your gay/furry identity into future videos? If so, how do you plan on dealing with your non-furry audience that might not have watched a 3-hour gay furry video?

Where did you get your Pathologic figurine?

When are you going to remove the word 'aspiring' from your Twitter bio? ^^ I'd say you've pretty firmly established yourself as a video essayist to reckon with. I remember Alec from Technology Connections talking about how he arrived at his current teleprompter setup (bit of a journey, iirc), and I'd be interested to hear about your experience with using that kind of technology (and possible difficulties you may have encountered).

Please ignore if I'm stepping over the line here; it hasn't been too long since your coming out but how does it feel now? How have the interactions with other people changed? Your Beastars-Video is exploding, do you know what happened?

If it's not too personal, I was wondering about some of the RL 'inspiration' behind some of the sections. You did talk about prop 8 and how that contributed to the shame and stigma, for example. The Luca section at the start, any connection to what it was like having your brother come out? While watching the part about passing (which hit pretty hard for me, too, from the 'has passing privilege, is bloody invisible and erased a lot' side), I couldn't help but wonder how much public perception of you and Stephanie played into it. I imagine comments along the lines of "Oh, you got a girlfriend now?" must've been pretty aggravating. And I'd like to hear more about your creative process, how you chose the setting and lighting (and shirts) for each section, and how deliberate those choices were. I mean, sitting /in your closet/ bracketed by TWO WOLVES while wearing THE MOST WOLVES to fit on one shirt obviously wasn't just a happy little accident. (one of the many things I really like about your approach to video essays is just how many little flourishes and easter eggs you manage to pepper in) On the more technical side: how difficult was it to set up bisexual lighting in a room with pink walls? ^^

When did you come out to all of your friends? To me that seems harder than coming out to us, a group of strangers.
