I don’t know all the details but apparently there was a comic storyline where Karen went away - to try to get into acting I think - and ended up became a junkie and porn actress to feed her habit. It was at her lowest point that she betrayed Matt’s identity as Daredevil so she could get more drugs. There’s been a bit of backlash against that storyline over the years labelling it misogynistic etc. I feel like you could and should be able to tell a story like that if you approach it in the right way and not just for melodrama and shock value. Part of the problem with the way the story was originally told was it was all about Matt’s point of view and the shock of his betrayal. Karen wasn’t really a character but more of a plot device. She just went from trusted friend to junkie whore and traitor out of the blue. You never really saw the transition.
