Patron Q&A/Update Podcast, Episode 22: "End of 2024 Post-Bionicle State of the Everything"

Well it's the first one of these I've done in forever. I said I'd make an update podcast after the Bionicle video was out, and that's what this is. I talk about the making of the video, how it's doing, how my channel's doing in general, what I've been up to the past year, what I'm working on next, and just, yknow, like, whatever, man.

If you have any more specific questions for me please drop them as comments. If there's enough I will do a followup answering them. Ok thank you bye!

Oh and I forgot to add, I found your conveyance of the interesting world building of korokoro wish and Bionicle to be deeply inspiring. What cool weird unique inventive concepts.

I became a patron after your Bionicle video. I watched it all the way thru twice. Just to nail it all down. It’s probably one of my favorite videos of all time. The little animations and references images of each Toa and character. I could really tell you respected the source material and your interpretation and narration is fantastic. And that you managed to keep all the terminology straight with the masks and Matoran and powers and stuff. Awesome. Convinced me to get a Bionicle for my desk. Such a good video. Stoked to see what else you got planned, tbh I don’t really know anything about what slime and punishment is but I’m really looking forward to digging into your oeuvre and learning more. Keep making what you want, I’d be interested to see just like a basic vlog of your wine making or other personal passions. You’re an interesting dude. I think your passion and commitment to lecturing on interesting niche topics will naturally draw people in on YouTube, I hope you figure out the formula for making enough money, wish you the best bro. If you ever need a live audience for your lecture I’d volunteer. Or maybe you could make that a Patreon tier. Donate a certain amount and get to sit in on the next live lecture. Idk. I’m just typing, have a good one.

Sure thing. Here was my first version in green/black: https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/golgari-fast-slime/ And here's the green/blue version I'm still refining: https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/simic-double-slime/

Pretty hype for all the proposed video ideas and the ones in the works. I've been wanting to catch you streaming, I must've missed the notifications. I don't have any great questions for you but if there ends up being another q&a just let us know your opinion on some classic anime gems. Hunter x Hunter, yu yu Hakusho ect. Did a specific one captivate you at some point in your life

It would be awesome to see the Slime Against Humanity decks that you’ve built so far!

The Bionicle lecture was an absolute pleasure to watch! I largely watched it while on the treadmill. It was very memorable and the 'big story engine' was a highlight. I even dreamt/recalled the whole bit with explaining 'Karzahni' and 'The Karzahni'. Do you feel a PCP lecture needs more time to stew, or have you dumped the idea altogether?

Hot damn it has been a while huh. I may have some personal investment in this question buuut: how is your feeling on comics at this point? By that I mean A: are you still thinking or hoping to make more comics of your own eventually, should we be looking forward to anything like a continuation of Beastcapades or, god forbid, the Champion, have you had ideas for anything new over the last months/years? B: how's it looking with the Perfect Comic Party? Obviously it was postponed because the bionicle lecture had you swamped, and now the same may be true for battle network, but I seem to remember you did get submissions for another edition, and you were considering doing something about it after bionicle. Have plans changed on that? (This question is ofc self-interested because Im myself still working on a comic, but I also just really liked reading the comics. And the idea of a bi-monthly or semi-annual comics zine with a YT channel as its background was very cool to me. So Im just wondering where it stands.)

About the editing: no hard feelings :) If you ever make stuff with less soul that can be delegated you've got options

I just want to extend my thanks for the quality and respect with which you present the topics in your lectures (as silly as the rest of the world views things like this). I hope you have the means to keep making content that is both satisfying to make and entertaining for us to watch while still being able to support you, your projects and help you grow your platform. I really think there is a good future with your channel and the amount of thought and time you put into these and presumably the rest of your life all but insures that. Stay safe and don’t burn yourself out :)

Re: Editing. I had never seen a video of yours ever, and was recommended the Bionicle one from a trusted source. I watched the whole thing and then watched the Mega Man one, so I'm watching them in reverse order or release. Let me please say your upgrades were VERY noticable to me. I can see an improvement if both physical quality of the presentation, and the cadence and handling of the subject. So I personally 100% think your extra work on Bionicle played a role. Re: Therapy. If Therapy is not working for you, I would try a different therapist. Therapist are humans and you know that sometimes you meet another person and like them just fine, but they aren't someone you'd really take advice from? Therapist work the same way. I've heard many a tale of "needing to find that right one". Just a thought.
