Important! Please read carefully!

Hi guys!

My vacation is ending. And too many things require my attention. I’m not yet ready to return to my work for the following reason:

Last year, Patreon warned creators that some "payment processors" were preparing to verify all 18+ content creators, including comic and animation artists. And a few days ago, Patreon warned us that this process will be implemented in October 2022. This is countered by a completely unconvincing and vague wording about protecting children, protecting against revenge porn, etc.

What I have questions and suspicions

Patreon has its own content control service (Trust & Safety team) that carefully monitors what kind of content creators post on Patreon. Patreon DOESN’T ALLOW the publication of any porn material involving real people (of any age). Why is this verification of content creators needed? Somewhere a database will be stored with my personal data and a mark - "he draws fucking men." In our homophobic world, this is absolutely unsafe. I consider this procedure a fake, which has nothing to do with the real protection of children. This will not protect children and people from revenge porn anyhow. This has nothing to do with artists who draw comics and animations for adults!

On what basis do "payment processors" deal with the moral aspects of people? Their business is to do financial transactions only. For the rest, there are other special services. The "payment processors" used by the artists to withdraw the earned funds already have all the personal data and verifications and carefully monitor where and where the funds go.

Do you remember the case when Apple destroyed Tumblr?
Tumblr agreed to Apple's demands and all NSFW artists moved to Twitter. Now Tumblr is a dull and useless social network that no one uses.

Do you remember the case when Visa and Mastercard destroyed Pornhub?
Pornhub agreed to all their demands and thousands of accounts were deleted. Now every Pornhub user who publishes a video goes through a verification procedure with personal data and photos of his personality. Okay, in the case of Pornhub, it makes sense because on Pornhub people were posting videos of real people. There really could appear videos with revenge porn and with the participation of minors. But I ask again, what does this have to do with Patreon, which carefully monitors all the content that its creators publish?

All this nonsense continues and expands. Now they have decided to destroy our beloved and innocent Patreon! Who’s next? Maybe Twitter?

If the artist agrees to this verification, I will have to send my passport data to "nowhere". I have absolutely no idea where my personal data will be stored, who will have access to it. And most importantly - why and for what purpose? How will this protect children? I do not see the point. And so I draw various conspiracy theories.

If the artist does not agree to this verification procedure, the Patreon account or balance will be suspended and there will be no point in continuing work.

Due to all this, billing for September 2022 has been paused! Active patrons won’t be charged again. Early published works will be available. I need time to resolve all my affairs, and also decide whether I will agree to a dubious verification procedure and continue working, or I will have to stop working and say goodbye to the “BoboComics” brand and to my thousands of fans.

At the end of September 2022, I will publish a post with my decision and future plans.

P.S. My second brand "Celeborn" (available to all ages and does not require verification of my identity) will continue to work and will continue to delight fans with new illustrations and fanarts.
