WIP Update (02/01/26)
Added 2026-01-02 02:46:16 +0000 UTCSmall update as I've been busy the last couple weeks.
A very basic Item recycling is now available.
Whenever you defeat an enemy, if they fail to drop an item, they reroll their drop chance (with a 2x boost) and if that succeeds, they'll drop an "Item Soul" (I might change that name).
Hitting an Item Soul with a devour attack will give you "Sparks." (Spark count displayed above your health bar)
You can also recycle dropped items into Item Souls by pressing your devour keybind while hovering over them in your inventory. You'll have to pick up an item first, enable recycling by clicking on the button, also located in the inventory, and then pressing your devour keybind while hovering over the item you wish to recycle into an Item Soul. There are no take backs, and no confirmations, one click and it's done, the item is gone so be careful. The recycle option defaults to OFF and isn't saved so you'll have to reenable it when you restart the game.
Item Soul value from recycled items is based off of both the rarity and item level.
You can spend Item Sparks at the Recycler in your quarters up in the top right. The level of items generated are based on your Progression (which is only increased the first time you beat each boss, it's the variable that determines what levels are available to you). The cost is also increased based on your progression.
I'll revisit this system eventually and make it robust, this is just the basic first pass of it.
Comments
I'd definitely second upgrading items (or maybe just rerolling one or more of their stats) because right now the best items come from grinding the boss polar bear and the recycler is 3 levels below that
