"Execution" | Death Note - Ep. 17 Reaction!

Comments

Lol you guys make my day. You're reactions are always so wonderful. 💜

This shows that the Death Note can often lead even the most morally upright individuals down a dark path. Now, you're witnessing a version of Light who hasn't been tainted by the Death Note and still holds onto his morals.

Although I've watched this anime a dozens of times from the past until now, I wouldn't have noticed this aspect if Jordan hadn't mentioned Ryuk and Rem's opposing views (interesting & disgusting) on humans. It's pretty cool.

Chris Tucker?? Did you take your guess? What did you guess? Rush Hour?

Itachi Uchiha (Ericken)

Sounds like a Chris Tucker quote

This is just my own personal philosophy on what’s happening with Light’s morals, so don’t take it as fact or anything super related to the plot of the show. In my opinion, media typically shows shifting morals in two ways. In the first, morals are stripped away. Basically any dystopian/zombie movie, where otherwise “moral” people are stripped down to fight or flight and must make horrific decisions to save themselves and their loved ones. In the second, the opposite approach is taken, and morals are stacked on top of existing morals, effectively making a tier list of them. Many political movies do this, where a “moral” character gains power and responsibility, and thus has to make some horrific decisions “for the greater good”. I think Light here is an example of us being shown a character immediately in the end-stages of the second approach in Episode 1, as he gains a god complex very early on, and thus the morals of “creating a better world” supersede any other morals. And now in this arc we actually see a reversal to Light before this, and witness his “second-tier” morals shine through. I think it’s a very interesting narrative choice, essentially doing a reverse method 2. There are many, many, other equally valid theories about who light truly is, what’s true and fake, what are his actual morals, etc. though. That’s just my own opinion.

😂 Who ever guess the quote, their name will be mentioned in the next episode? Sounds like a fun game. You should do it more often. I don't know where that quote comes from. My guess, it has to be either Black Mirror or Breaking Bad, sense those are the 2 shows you guys mentioned a few times: Breaking Bad being your favorite. Other than that, I have no idea. Really hope someone figures it out. Can't wait to see who.

Itachi Uchiha (Ericken)

They probably managed to build the building so fast because it's Japan and L threw an unimaginable amount of money down for it? And Matsuda wonders about L's finances 😂 L was probably paid in gold for each case he solved 😂

Finally, can’t wait for the reaction. Love you guys
