They find the egg by using chemical signaling that tells the sperm where to swim. BUT, Imo bio is sick as fuck, so I went more in depth for anyone who wants to know WHY it works or is willing to listen to my rant lol: No, sperm do not have eyes, as that would insinuate that there is some sort of information-relay center (like a brain) for that visual info that the eye takes in to go to. Sperm are not capable of cognition (thinking), as they do not have an organelle for thought process. They also do not have an organelle that takes in visual info from their surroundings. Even IF sperm had eyes, it would be useless, as they wouldn’t know what to do with that information anyways. (EDIT: not sure if organelle is correct here bc neurons are why we think & that’s a whole other cell type, so I think the real reason is simply that sperm are not complex enough cellular life to do things like see & think.) I just looked it up (breaking the rules of the game, but relevant still lol), & sperm know how to find an egg through chemical signaling. I remember this from AP Bio, & essentially there are little places on cells that can receive & send out info through certain proteins. So the egg releases proteins, those attach to sperm, & the sperm move in direction of the egg to fertilize it.
