2025-09-17 16:51:00 +0000 UTCthe period/moon theory comes from them both being 28 day cycles on average also we get hella oxygen from the ocean like a lot of it because of the algae and phytoplankton which makes up the base of the food chain also a lot of major nutrient cycles rely on the ocean
sara rodriguez
2025-09-17 14:36:48 +0000 UTCside note the micro organisms in the ocean provide the largest portion of our oxygen so yes there would be less oxygen

2025-07-28 23:47:29 +0000 UTCthis eopside has made me realise that conversation with tom is somehow less coherent than that of a conversation with your 9 year old cousin, maybe this is why he likes the random conversations lol

2025-07-28 21:56:14 +0000 UTCTLDR: Tom (almost) made a solid point. Over 70% of Earth’s oxygen comes from oceanic phytoplankton, so if the oceans vanished, oxygen levels would plummet over 6 months, causing heart strain, nausea, and eventually death. Exploring seabeds or walking to France? Not happening. And before that, mega earthquakes (8 to 10 magnitude) would hit within seconds, like the 2004 Indonesia quake (9.1) that killed 230,000+. An almost good point from Tom about the oxygen when the oceans disappear. Not him saying the whole H2O stuff but over 70% of Earth’s oxygen comes from oceanic phytoplankton so over 6 months there would be super high heart strain and nausea so I doubt you would explore the seabeds and walk to France in those conditions. The most immediate thing would be earthquakes happening in seconds after it disappears between 8-10 magnitude for example in Indonesia in 2004 a 9.1 hit and over 230,000 people died.

2025-07-28 17:08:12 +0000 UTCthose big existential stuff about dying was scary as FUCK. like that's definitely dying stuff not even maybe dying plus fighting it off that shit is scary i preferred the dinosaur one cause we'd overcome that like covid and there'd be history books written about the great dinosaur war of 2025 and how we were victorious and we were all brought together by these damn dinosaurs and it'd be actually kind of beautiful

2025-07-28 13:31:26 +0000 UTCSorry in advance but I have to let out my inner Dino nerd. A helmet wouldn’t change much because most carnivorous dinosaurs have enough bite force to complete crush a helmet. Even the herbivorous dinosaurs could get through it. Even raptors which have a sickle claw on their feet would rather go for the neck or body to slice you apart. Even then there were probably more dinosaurs than humans since they lived on earth for 165 million years while we only existed for 200,00 years. Plus not all dinosaurs existed at the same time it’s separated into three time periods, the Triassic, The Jurassic, and The Cretaceous with the famous ones like T Rex and Raptors showing up the end. And we only found about 700 species total with more being found

2025-07-28 10:56:30 +0000 UTCtom is right again for the wrong reason There would absolutely be significantly less oxygen in the air if the ocean disappeared. Between 50-85% of the world's O2 is produced by the ocean. It's a large enough amount to the point where most of the animal life would die. There would also be other impacts (climate, energy, etc.), but that is the largest.

2025-07-28 09:16:47 +0000 UTCi really loved the question about dinosaurs, i'm going to be thinking about that all day! like could i beat a raptor in a fist fight? probably not it might bite my head off but what if i had a big knife? if dinosaurs were here would they let us have really big knives? if so, i think i might have a better chance. i'd just have to get really really bold. maybe wear a motorbike helmet do possibly decrease the chance of my head getting bit off. i always thought about human apocalypses but never with dinosaurs involved....

2025-07-27 17:04:58 +0000 UTCWith the question about the birds can they communicate and come up with a plan or are they just going at people? Because I imagine they can do a lot of harm by biting electric wires or destroying fields or like deciding to go for one type of insects and messing up with the food chain
