I feel like Tom very very heavily related to Bob’s story in a way that Tom’s transitioning at the moment from being viewed as an ‘annoying’ little minecraft kid to a new chapter of him doing comedy and acting. Bob started by trying everything and travelling a long distance to meet his hero and try and take a chance the same way Dream (sorry lol) gave Tom opportunities when he was young and wanted to fulfill his dream of being a youtuber. Then as both Bob and Tom got older they became more popular and continued making the media they knew would boost their fame and continue their popularity with that particular demographic. Then as they’re trying to make the media they really want to make - Bob moving into a new genre of music and Tom moving on with his career - they face scrutiny from those they once trusted telling them to continue doing what they originally did. I think a Complete Unknown came at the exact right moment for Tom and watching it really fuelled his enthusiasm for comedy and this new chapter in his life. Whereas Jack didn’t relate to the film in this same way and saw it more objectively. It doesn’t mean either of you are wrong, it just means that you have had a completely different experience of the same film and because you’re similar you can’t really understand how the other doesn’t feel the same way.
