Would love to point out that Jack was wrong about boars being invasive to the uk, they are actually an extinct species on the island and are often reintroduced in small populations by woodland and wildlife protection schemes for their beneficial impacts (rooting, wallowing, seed dispersal), basically plants and animals love them! If we’re getting real into it most horses and rabbits are technically invasive as well but on the scale of centuries it is possible to be technically invasive (introduced) and have a neutral of even beneficial effects on the environment as they act as a stop gap fulfilling a niche a previously common species once occupied. Like muntjack deer (imported by a duke in the 1800’s from Asia). Japanese knotweed is a right cunt thought- avoid that at all costs.

The difference between the car vid and the shopping vid is that the car vid is self indulgent within a specific niche but shopping self indulgent but relatable, everyone goes shopping and a lot of the audience are realistically at that stage in their teen years where they are now shopping for themselves rather then the people around being with them for the trip, going from shopping with mum and asking for a snack to checking whether you can afford the treat yourself is a big jump and that video places the viewer back within that first stage but with a more mature perspective

I know this podcast is largely comedic, but i want to explain it for anyone who might be wondering about this! Birds, insects, arachnids, fish, even HUMANS- are all animals. Everything in biology (aka the study of life) is organized into groups through a practice called Taxonomy - the science of categorization. Biological taxonomy is the organization of all living organisms; separating them into groups based on shared characteristics. This builds an upside down pyramid that's organized from most broad to most specific. This order goes: Domain --> Kingdom --> Phylum --> Class --> Order --> Family --> Genus --> Species You've probably heard the term "animal kingdom" before. That is referring to the second tier of Biology taxonomy; Kingdoms. There are six Kingdoms of organisms; one of which being "Animalia" - aka Animals. Our (Humans) Taxonomy looks like this: Domain: Eukaryote --> Kingdom: Animalia --> Phylum: Chordata --> Class: Mammalia --> Order: Primates --> Family: Hominidae --> Genus: Homo --> Species: Homo sapiens AKA- Humans! TLDR: Anything that isn't Plant, Fungus, Protozoa, or Bacteria is an Animal! (so yes, insects are animals, and so are you)

For an actual example, there was a guy on reddit who had his foot amputated (for medical reasons) and then obtained it and (fulfilling a long term deal between friends) cooked the flesh and made tacos for the willing participants. The conversation about cannibalism on main episode was really interesting, and I recently watched a lecture about a similar thing. There are two opposing schools of though in philosophy - moral realism (our ethics should be based on facts, like what Jack was saying), and emotivism (our ethics are nothing more than emotional attitudes, like Tommy’s position) For example, Jack mentioned human suffering. We know that murder is wrong because it brings about human suffering. But why is human suffering wrong? One of the explanations is that we just feel like it shouldn’t happen - we apply our emotions to an ethical question. Or the issue of incest. If two people, a brother and a sister, get together, and they have no intention of producing children, why do we still feel like it’s morally unacceptable for them to marry/date? Many philosophers claim that it’s just because it feels wrong - or, as Tommy says, weird - to us, so we project or emotions onto ethics. That might be why Jack can’t find logical reasons why eating his arm is morally bad, but he still says he wouldn’t have done it.

As someone who has ADHD and takes medication for it, one of the very big side effects for most of ADHD medicine is you just don't eat as much as you should. Its like after one small meal you feel full the rest of the day. I lost a lot of weight because of mine and became severely underweight :)
