Complete Investigator
Added 2019-12-01 12:04:22 +0000 UTCIt seems every evil thing was detailed in those pages; it was no surprise when I saw my own face staring back at me in his book.
As promised, this month on Patreon would be a month of wrapping stuff up. The Mimic Book of Mimic has all of its art and the Complete Investigator has two new subclasses and a system of Truenaming spells. Plus, we had this other thing cooking.
You'll notice a not insubstantial visual overhaul on this book. We're trying for really unique looks for all of our standalone books, even if it takes a bit longer to get them all out. All things told, I think it's worth it.
Changelog:
- 12/1/19: Typos and minor presentation changes
- 11/25/20: Trinkets changed to be a default subclass feature, represented in the chassis. Waterfall changes to subclasses. Changes to Occultist and Antiquarian
- 10/31/22: Updated to match Valda's Spire of Secrets

Heya Mage Hand Press Team! I have a question for you on rulings about Exploit Weakness. I understand that it does not apply vulnerability to damage from class features and spells. But, for example, GWM/Sharpshooter are not class features or spells. Would they be doubled? And also, does the damage from something like Shadow Blade qualify for Exploit Weakness, as it is technically not the spell that's doing the damage, but just a weapon created by the spell? I'm asking because I'm trying to do a multiclass of Investigator/Bladesinger and I don't want to make it stronger than intended.

2020-05-06 22:56:11 +0000 UTCThat still isn't very clear, because casting a spell as a ritual takes an amount of time equal to the normal spell casting time plus 10 minutes, (PHB pg 201). So does this mean the Investigator ignores this, and casts spells as rituals using the casting times listed in their descriptions? If so, what is the check on how many spells they can cast? Part of the reason casting as a ritual doesn't take a spell slot is because it takes 10+ minutes to cast and couldn't be done in combat. I may just be misunderstanding, or failing to communicate my question. Is the one action casting time mentioned referring to the normal spell description and just for use to determine if the spell can be cast with Rushed Incantation, or be one of the 5 in your Spellbinder list; but otherwise ritual casting is done normally by Investigators (taking 10+ minutes)?

2020-05-06 22:42:54 +0000 UTCThey cast using a bonus action, but the only ritual spells which they can cast using Rushed Incantation are rituals which would normally be cast as an action. If its listed casting time is 10 minutes or an hour, for example, you can't Rush it.

2020-05-06 22:21:37 +0000 UTCPlease forgive a little thread necromancy here, but I finally have a game coming up where this class may be perfect, and I was rereading it and had a question about the Investigator's ritual casting... Their Rushed Incantation and Spellbinder abilities both reference rituals with a casting time of 1 action. Does this mean Investigators cast their rituals using the normal spell casting time, or do they still take the usual ritual casting time of 10 minutes plus original spell casting time to cast a ritual, with the abilities mentioned being the exceptions? It seems like it would be the latter, but it wasn't clarified in the book so I just wanted to make sure.

2020-05-06 17:54:07 +0000 UTCWell I know Seance was spelled wrong, true rename's material component says "consumew", it also says "no no creature" in the beginning of it's spell description- I could've sworn there was another but I'm not exactly sure. It might've been somewhere else I'm sorry. Also, I JUST noticed game of fate is a nonmagical game- can a creature use the cheat cantrip for it?

2019-12-02 02:37:59 +0000 UTCI caught a few errors, but there's probably more I haven't noticed. Care to mention the ones you've seen?
Mage Hand Press
2019-12-02 02:27:57 +0000 UTCI'm sure you've noticed but some of the new truename stuff has a few minor errors, mostly just spelling stuff. As far as I noticed it's only spell stuff that has errors though
