Taverns and Tankards (in progress)

You all meet up in a tavern…

Nothing is more universal to D&D than taverns. Half of all adventures (maybe more) start there, nearly all stop at one along the way, and most successful ones wind up at the tavern for the after-party. This book, Taverns and Tankards, is your very own guidebook to bars, brewhouses, and inns, and a survival manual for every type of barfight and drinking game.

Using this book, GMs can create and populate a one-of-a-kind tavern and fill it with patrons, events, and rumors, with just a few die rolls. Players can use it to build characters which are perhaps more at home at a bar than in a dungeon, and everyone can use the drinking rules to get the story off track.

New Software, Who 'Dis?

Now I know this was supposed to be a one-month book, but we've had a really good time working it, and the project expanded a bit. We'd still like to include monsters and magic items (there's no b'ooze or beer goggles in this book yet), so we hope to get those, the cover, and the rest of the art done next month. In the meantime, we've wrapped up most of the art for the Complete Craftsman (which has two new archetypes and a lot of new art now!)

Behind the scenes, we're working with new PDF software, which means we're experimenting with stylistic changes as we covert over; you'll notice some of those changes already in Taverns and Tankards. It also means we haven't 100% figured out how to do bookmarks or tables of contents yet; we'll have all that figured out soon.

Upcoming Plans

So, next month is going to have to be a Catch-Up Month! It's been a while since we've done one of those, and we need the time as much to charge towards printing Dark Matter as we do for finishing Taverns and Tankards.

The following month, we'll be doing the Complete Warden, which only won the poll by a few votes. The month after, I'd like to hijack the schedule and revisit one of our classic books, the Lovecraft Handbook, with new art, updated mechanics, completely reworked Alienation, and a metric ton of variant rules. We've been working on art for a while on this one, but we need a month to really work on the book to show it off.

Also, here's an early disclaimer for this one: we might Kickstart the reworked Lovecraft Handbook to secure a print run. If that becomes the case, pledges on Patreon won't get you the final Kickstarter version, just the stuff that gets done while it's exclusively on here. With any luck that'll be most of the book, but I thought I'd broach the subject early to get everyone on the same page.

I'm very excited to show off all the work we're doing with this book; there's been a lot more going on in the background than we let on, and I think you'll enjoy what we've been cooking up.

A print run of the Lovecraft book? Take my $$$!!!

We've got some plans on how to expand it, but I wouldn't want to say too much, lest I over-promise things. Obviously, I'm thinking about extra archetypes, also probably including the investigator. More monsters, more magic items, etc.

NEW CONTENT WOO! As I said on the main site, I would love to support any print content yall decided to throw up there. Only question would be if you are expanding it and if so to what extent? You have a functionally complete book as is. Would you fill in with new archtypes for your new classes you've made since then? Either way, keep up the great work and I'll get to reading!
