Investigator
Added 2018-06-25 08:41:45 +0000 UTCThat's just the way of it: sell your soul, get bitten by a vampire, cursed by hags -- we all become monsters sooner or later.
This is our new base class, the Investigator, inspired by the likes of John Constantine, Hellboy, and Supernatural. Playing as an investigator means you can step into the shoes of a supernatural detective, uncovering eldritch mysteries and hunting evil monsters.
We always design our classes with a strong core hook in mind. This time, it's 'Rituals, the Class', and I'm pretty happy with the outcome.
Because of the general craziness of life (what with the oncoming Kickstarter), we haven't done proper playtesting on this class yet, so if you notice any mistakes/weirdness/balance concerns, let us know on the Discord or in the comments below.

I have a Blade-type character but have wanted an outline for Constantine. This is super!

2018-09-29 00:07:11 +0000 UTCThat's a weird artifact that sometimes happens when we make a PDF -- it's not missing a page or anything. I'll fix it right away.

2018-09-18 10:23:32 +0000 UTCnot sure if this is just my download or something, but there's just a blank white page after page 8.

2018-09-18 09:58:18 +0000 UTCAssuming that the change actually worked this time, the Exploit Vulnerability should be good for multiclassing. (It only works once per turn and doesn't double damage from class features.)

2018-07-18 06:41:29 +0000 UTCSo far the only complaint I've gotten about this class is that Exploit Vulnerability is too strong when you multiclass.

2018-07-12 00:51:21 +0000 UTCThe class looks awesome though! Im excited to test it out. My only real concern is the potential shenanigans with casting tiny hut as an action. I know a couple of dms who would refuse to consider it over that.

2018-07-11 18:54:05 +0000 UTCGah! I actually fixed this one a couple weeks back when it was spotted, but at some point, my file /reverted/ a few random changes. Super frustrating. I'll have it patched momentarily

2018-07-11 12:18:02 +0000 UTCIn the 'exploit vulnerability' section is says 'if the target has resistance or vulnerability' that its not treated as being vulnerable to the damage. Should this say immunity instead of vulnerability?

2018-07-10 20:00:40 +0000 UTCThe changes to the investigator and occultist look good. Advantage on detecting lies is simple and effective. The extra two rituals gives the occultist more spell power than the sub classes and so helps, I think.

2018-07-06 03:59:06 +0000 UTCI love the concept and the main features of the class. It may just be me, but the sub-classes feel very samey . I can see that each one is good at something different, but none of them "feel" really different. Also, for the investigator, automatically knowing when a creature is telling a lie might make campaigns very difficult for a DM. I realise you can't tell what the truth would be, but having that ability would probably make life very challenging for a DM. Maybe increase the potency of or ease of casting zone of trust for the investigator? The gaining of two cantrips for the occultist feels a bit lackluster. I could get the same from taking the magic initiate feat while gaining a first level spell to boot. I realise you can't give much when you're also giving trinkets, so I'm afraid I don't currently have an alternative suggestion here.

2018-07-05 20:57:55 +0000 UTCProficiency lists light crossbow and simple Weapons, as the light crossbow is a simple weapon you can remove it specifically from the list!

2018-07-04 12:26:37 +0000 UTCFixed, by the way. Also, sounds like a gun character

2018-07-01 06:25:35 +0000 UTCBut over-all, I love everything I'm seeing! Devising a joking character to test builds before I get into more serious development... the warforged investigator named Inspector Gajit will be a fun test.

2018-06-28 15:54:06 +0000 UTCI was looking for that! It got washed away in the tides of the discord. I'll add it in soon

2018-06-26 06:12:51 +0000 UTCThe Palm suggested some better wording for the After Image ability, "When you are hit by an attack during the spell's duration, roll any die. On an odd roll, the attack targets and hits the duplicate instead of you. The duplicate vanishes, reappearing after you move 10 feet or more or take the Dodge action."

2018-06-26 04:45:18 +0000 UTCOr was the intention that this would do 3d8 damage to creatures under half hp
Justin Forkner
2018-06-25 17:18:55 +0000 UTCShouldn't this say, "If the creature has less than half its hit points remaining, you can instead deal an additional 2d8 damage to the creature?"
Justin Forkner
2018-06-25 17:18:22 +0000 UTCFinisher says, "Once on each of your turns when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can cause the attack to deal an extra 1d8 damage to the creature. If the creature has less than half its hit points remaining, you can deal an additional 2d8 damage to the creature."
