Apps and Updates
Added 2017-09-19 07:30:08 +0000 UTCAs you might have surmised, since this is a housekeeping month, we also won't be doing a poll (can't get too far ahead with those). Instead, I've been experimenting with some other little things:
Apps
First and foremost, we've heard lot of people ask for some app to make using our content a little more convenient at the table. We get it -- if you're used to digital aids, like online character sheets or apps, it's hard to go back to using pen and paper. So we've been experimenting with how to convert our base classes over to this app:
Fifth Edition Character Sheet (Android) (iOS)
It's the single best character sheet I've used, and it supports all types of custom data. (The app isn't 100% free if you want to go higher than 1st level, but it's worth the purchase.)
So now, available for download on this post, is our Warden class as a custom data package. Enjoy!
In the future, we're also probably going to run polls on which classes get ported over to this app. Some of them might take more work (we might never figure out how to make the Craftsman work in it, for example), but we'll give it our best shot.
Updates
Secondly, I'm doing a tiny bit of restructuring here on the Patreon. Every tier is getting a name, and the $3 tier and Producer are getting a bit of an upgrade.
Let's go through it:
$1: Dungeoneer - Nothing changes other than the name. You can still vote in polls, you can still get access to just about everything (except for Complete Classes and setting stuff)
$2: Adventurer - Nothing changes here either. Just as before, this level and higher also has access to Complete Classes, in addition to everything else.
$3: Hero - The biggest change here is that the $3 tier grants you access to all of the campaign settings we put out, rather than just Manifest (which we still have plans for, but introducing some other settings will likely come first.)
Ultimately, this also includes Dark Matter, but I recognize that limiting access to it just before it comes out isn't exactly fair, so Dark Matter will remain at the $1 tier for the first week it's out, then it'll move to the $3 tier. Anything else released in the Dark Matter universe will go straight to the $3 tier.
$10: Producer - Producers are getting a new feature: the Producer Poll. Whenever we release a monthly poll to decide on our next book, producers will have access to a second poll, with all the same choices, except votes are worth twice as much. (Note: producers can still vote in the regular poll, for a total of three votes). Votes from the regular poll and the Producer Poll will be counted together to decide which book wins.
Also, if you're a Producer, you live in the continental United States, and you haven't gotten a d20, you still can! Go here and follow the instructions.

That's all I got for today! If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comments!
Comments
The json file is for the warden class if you download the 5e character sheet on the app store or google play store. It is a app that keeps track for your character sheet I highly recommend it. I wish I could find more of these! If you put the json in your google drive and get on the app you can add it with custom data.

2017-10-11 14:37:30 +0000 UTCIt's not a setting, no. A setting has its own lore, whereas my fey stuff sits within the 'default' lore as found in the DMG.

2017-09-29 19:44:29 +0000 UTCI don't think so. The distinction, for me anyway, is whether or not I need to make a map.

2017-09-25 17:35:03 +0000 UTCWill the upcoming fey folio be considered a setting?

2017-09-24 21:22:09 +0000 UTCThe naming scheme is just something Patreon wants people to do now, and I like that idea, so I'm rolling with it. Moving all campaign settings up to the $3 tier is really a way of us making good on our Manifest promises in some way. We originally wanted to do adventure modules in that setting (and we still might) but it turns out that those types of projects are fairly difficult and expensive to do with the constraints we work with (high-quality art, plenty of playtesting, etc.) This way, we can have /all/ the campaign setting stuff on the $3 tier to give that level a little more value, and to give us a framework to write more Dark-Matter-quality stuff. For the Producer Poll, I'm always trying to reward our Producers as much as possible. When I created that tier, I thought it would have, at best, 5 people (I also didn't anticipate our Patreon going this well in general, but I /especially/ couldn't imagine how many producers we'd have.) Those folks are so generous and so supportive, I really want to show how much we appreciate it as much as I can. That's why we did the dice with our logo, and that's why we're doing this poll: I just thought the Producers would like it.

2017-09-23 20:46:10 +0000 UTCI'm curious, what prompted these changes to the reward tiers?

2017-09-23 19:19:17 +0000 UTCCorrect -- this isn't a base class on its own; the warden is one that we've already published. This is a file to import it into an app, if you're the type of person that likes to use your phone to keep track of your character sheet, that is.

2017-09-20 23:12:40 +0000 UTCI'm super excited having the warden in the app now!

2017-09-20 19:40:19 +0000 UTCThat's a good point. I forgot it's only on apple. I guess I'll just stick to copy and pasting it in. Lol

2017-09-20 13:10:47 +0000 UTCAlso, I'm super excited about this! Do you also have plans to release homebrew support for D&D Beyond? It is my understanding that premium Beyond members will have access to homebrew created by other players.

2017-09-20 12:52:41 +0000 UTCFight Club is a really cool app if you have an iPhone. I personally use Fifth Edition Character Sheet since I have an Android. I think you guys made the right decision by choosing to use an application that is available for all users.

2017-09-20 12:49:50 +0000 UTCI for one love it. It's very convenient and everyone I play with has it. We usually still like to roll dice but for keeping track of all you characters info, stats and abilities it's awesome. Ive tried a few other apps in the past and the fightclub one is by far my favorite but, I haven't tried the one you mentioned above.
Michael Djangali
2017-09-19 18:21:09 +0000 UTCMy guess is that it's not compatible. That being said, I haven't looked too much into the Fight Club app; does anyone use that app over the one we went with? What's everyone feeling about putting some of our content on apps in the first place? Excited or Meh?
Mage Hand Press
2017-09-19 17:57:19 +0000 UTCI've been adding the MFoV content to The Fight club app. I assume it doesn't but, does this warden data format work for the fight club app too?
Michael Djangali
2017-09-19 17:42:01 +0000 UTCIt's a file you can import onto the character sheet app. It allows you to automatically level as a Warden on it.

2017-09-19 16:13:23 +0000 UTCWhat's the Warden thing? It just shows as a text document to me.
