Pitifully overdue update - what I'm up to

I feel like I say this every time I post on here, but it's been too long! Sorry. 

I've been very, very busy these past few months! Some of that work you've seen, some of it you haven't. Here's what I've been up to and haven't shown yet;

Halo Video

Yeah I know I keep teasing it, sorry. The reason it's taking so long is because although it started as a review, it's since morphed into an off-the-record behind-the-scenes look at how a game like Infinite gets made and ends up the way it does, featuring input and insight from dozens of anonymous 343 developers. 

I'm not a journalist and I'm learning as I go. Every time I think I'm ready, there's a new development or new reason to hold off. Now a year has gone by since launch and I'm still not even 1 draft in, and I think I just need to sit down and get to work on it. Hopefully this will be ready for upload December/January, but don't hold me to that.

Hot Wheels Video

I can't talk about this project much, but I've been wanting to talk about Hot Wheels Highway 35 for over a year now, and I'm hoping to screen it at Magfest next year, or find some other way to make a video around showing it to a large body of people. There's more to it than that but telling you would spoil it.

Magfest QnA

Speaking of Mag, I'm also possibly holding a QnA panel there in January. The QnA stands for Qualms and Altercations, and the idea is that because regular QnA panels are usually fuckin' boring, we'd spice things up by only letting anyone ask a question if they can beat me 1v1 in a game of their choice, and win a shitty prize for beating me. I am bad at videogames, so asking a question shouldn't be too hard.

I wanna have easy and approachable games, but like, the worst multiplayer versions of them. Think Halo CE, Smash Brawl, or Frogger for PS1. Also the prizes will all be stupid weird shit like a Hot Wheels plug n' play or How To Play Winning Tennis on VHS. 

I'm terrified of this project! It's only just now sinking in that I've never done any kind of live performance outside streaming, and I will need to try to be funny for an hour straight in front of however many people show up. Hopefully it'll be fine?

Car Video

This one is a bit scary because it's so unlike anything else I've made, and I want it to be entertaining, even to people who don't care about cars. Myself, my dad, and a couple buddies of mine decided to attend the 24 Hours of Lemons, which is a terrible race for stupid people! We took an old car that has absolutely no business being with a 10 mile radius of a racetrack, and then made it do a 2-day long endurance race alongside equally pitiful cars that were all significantly faster than ours.

This one has been an insane time sink. Basically the entirety of October was spent preparing our car for the race.

Before starting this project, I didn't know how to do an oil change, but by the end I was installing killswitches, fire suppression systems, and more (with the help of people who knew what they were doing)! It was a fucking rollercoaster, I'm very proud of it, and I hope that the excitement and drama comes through in the video(s). Expect that probably early Q1 2023?

Band Video

Still in the very early stages. Like the car video, this one is wayyy  outside my comfort zone, and getting the project off the ground has been hell. 

Long story short, my dad is a pretty kickass drummer and was in a few bands in the 80s that almost made it big. I think some of the music he made still kinda bangs, and recently we got to talking about getting the band back together and rerecording their music (the original sound quality was shit). They have some amazing stories that I think are worth sharing.

We're trying to sort out who actually owns the music right now, but once that's sorted I think I might have a really fun video here. Or not. Honestly who knows man I'm just throwing shit at the wall and hoping it all sticks. No idea if/when this one is coming out.

Merch

I've been working on merch off and on throughout the year, but it's been an absolute pain trying to get it off the ground. We're hoping to launch 1 shirt and 1 hat/beanie before the end of the year, but idk if we can hit that goal at this rate tbh

Other

There are definitely more projects I've been working on and have forgotten about for the time being. I really want to put out a cardboard filler video for Christmas if nothing else, but I don't have any easy videos written so that'll be tricky. We'll see.

TLDR;

I'm juggling a number of projects right now that are all super ambitious and scary, and I hope that they all turn out well because at the moment I genuinely have no idea if they will! stay tuned for more (looks into the camera shyly)
