I've never heard anything like this!

Oh, no problem! I’ve been into K-pop for over a decade and it really is an entire culture on its own so I know it can be daunting and I watch a lot of reactors fumble through it in the beginning so I hoped I could help a bit! Happy that it seems I did 😄 Keep doing you! I love how genuine you are about being a reactor and you connect well with other people from what I can see. You’re doing great!

I'm trying to write a comment out to properly thank you for all this information. I'm so appreciative of how you broke it down for me and made it extremely easy to understand. I'm really excited to see more from this group/solo acts. THANK YOU!

I was WAITING for this. Welcome to K-pop, you'll be here for a while. The first thing you should know is that most K-pop music videos have English subtitles!!! You have to hit the CC button on the bottom right. Now, some videos from smaller companies that don't have the money or just older K-pop videos might not have them. The way you can tell the difference is by what it says when you turn the subtitles on. So, if you hit the 'CC' button and it just says "English" then you're fine. If it says "English (auto-generated)" then turn it off, that means there are NO official subtitles and what you'll be reading is the AI trying to create English words out of nothing. In the last 5 years especially, pretty much every group has official subtitles on their content. Now, a lot of people are going to start telling you what their positions in the group are and that might throw you off but most K-pop groups debut with some sort of positioning for each member as it lets the audience know what they are considered "strongest" at and helps clearly define the roles in the group. 90% of groups have a leader but Blackpink doesn't as their group is smaller and they wanted everyone to feel equal. They do have general roles though so I'll put that here. Jennie - Main Rapper, Lead Vocalist Lisa - Main Dancer, Lead Rapper Rosé - Main Vocalist, Lead Dancer Jisoo - Lead Vocalist, Visual In K-pop the label "Main" is meant to signify that that member is "the best" at that particular thing while the label "Lead" is more of the second in command in a way. Some other Blackpink songs you can check out are their debut songs (they debuted with a double title track so they released two songs/music videos together) which are "Whistle" and "Boombayah" and those both came out in 2016. Other music videos you can check out are "Shut Down," "Ddu-du-Ddu-du" "Kill This Love" "How You Like That" "Lovesick Girls" and "As If It's Your Last" The last thing I'll say is that Jisoo just released her 4 song EP with the title track "Earthquake." Earthquake does have a music video and I highly recommend checking it out. Jisoo is the only member of the group who does not speak fluent English so she releases her solo music in Korean. Subtitles are available! P.S If you ever want more K-pop or Eastern pop girl groups, let me know cus I have a newer one in mind that I think you'll like and they actually sing their songs in English as they're trying to reach a global market. I think they might really surprise you.
