There’s something so sleek about the white men’s dress shirts, white hot-pants, and white pumps combo. When you look at the song's lyrics, it's about a back-and-forth relationship driving her to the point of a breakdown. In the video, she's doing untamed movements, then doing them in reverse (back-and-forth), and she's dressed in all white, trapped in an all white room. I think it's all meant to mimic a mental breakdown, and obviously she does literally break down at the end. Another thing about her “selling sex” is that as a dancer, she’s having to wear revealing clothing anyway to move freely in her performances. She said the “Sports car” video was her taking back her narrative, since people have been giving her a hard time for being sexual lately. She’s a 21 year old girl and she’s allowed to express herself and experiment however she sees fit! She said in her recent Zane Lowe interview that she puts songwriting first when it comes to music, and she hopes people take her seriously as a songwriter after hearing the album. 😊
