Listening to My First Lady Gaga Album Ever: Chromatica

Our Lady Gaga deep dive begins to get ready for the new album MAYHEM coming out in March. Enjoy :)

Listening to My First Lady Gaga Album Ever: Chromatica

Comments

now that you have reacted to her live performance of Dope where she is wearing the flannel and is crying (the night her management dropped her) I wanted to bring up that I suspect Fun Tonight is about that particular night and the relationship she had with Troy Carter (her manager from her first album all the way to that night). “you love the Paparazzi love The Fame (songs from debut album), even though you know it causes me pain” because her management was upset with her for venturing out and doing Artpop. I suspect this is what she told them that made them drop her cause she wanted to move away from that dark time and they kept pushing her.

I actually left this off the priority list when I shared a plan for Juke’s Chromatica era - but I’m sure it’ll be revisited in the future!

Michael Hardwick

You should listen to the remix album of this! Full of features! It's called Dawn of Chromatica. 😁

Marco

I wish I heard this during the Pandemic! I love the energy

Justin Pineda

wow!

Daniel Juke

We're peeling back layers and getting into the lore! Love it

Daniel Juke

Definitely doing the movie! I'm going to do the music videos and performances and then the Ball. I'll definitely be finished with Chromatica and probably most of her eras by the time MAYHEM drops. I'm so excited!

Daniel Juke

I have a feeling I'm already turning into one! I'm very excited for this journey :)

Daniel Juke

Just wanted to say that it's really awesome how curious you are when googling stuff to learn a little bit more about the artist, song, or even words lol. That adds something special to your reactions. I just subscribed to your Patreon and can't wait for more Gaga reactions, I know you'll enjoy them and become a little monster lol :)

George

Does this mean Chromatica Ball (hbo MAX) reaction is upon us🩷🩷🩷😭 excited! I would say as one of the comments stated to watch the music videos, there’s 3: Stupid Love, Rain on me and 911. I would say they are definitely relevant to understanding this era. But the film should be done definitely before the album drops lol like I stated before, don’t click away until she’s no longer on screen. Someone else reacted to it and stopped it too early 😭😭😭

Okay also wanted to add to Babylon leaving you a bit confused: although never confirmed, a lot of people believe it’s a bit of a dig towards Madonna. Gaga’s song Born This Way was being accused of being a ripoff from Madonna’s Express Yourself. Madonna herself called Gaga ‘reductive’ during that time. If you add the gossip, babble on and rip that song lyrics up, it could feel like it’s directed that way. Also the song itself was immediately being compared to Madonna’s Vogue. Whether it’s true or not, it gives the song so many more layers.

I’m still watching but I just had to pause to comment: as you were hunting for samples, you missed one in Replay. It’s absolutely genius, taken from Diana Ross - It’s My House! Check it https://youtu.be/bSypGZfSIMc?si=911JCK6Ur8HnAeUE

Love This Album, Can't Just LikecOne Song Their All Just So Good, Chromatica Was One Of The Best Album In 2020, It Was Really Good For The Pandemic Back Then Just Put It On & Start Dancing All The Way Through Non Stop No Skips Of Course Lol ❤️ I Actually Do Love 1000 Doves Alot Tho Lol TBH

Len Jelks

This is so exciting for me. Gaga’s art has impacted me so deeply and Chromatica single-handedly got me through the worst part of the pandemic.

JP Diana

I will continue to back this ass up 🤣💯 Thanks for the comment!

Daniel Juke

I feel seen 💙

Daniel Juke

Thanks for the heads up lol

Daniel Juke

Bring the tissues for A Star is Born lol

Chris

Juke you are the best music reviewer. Your joy for music is infectious. Thank you for your thoughtfulness, inclusiveness and reflections on humanity. Oh yeah, all that ass shaking doesn't hurt either.

Christopher Jackson

Before you react to The Chromatica Ball, I'd un-pick the music videos/pre performances first! The Ball is definitely the 'finale' of the era and even has visuals that promote her current era she's about to embark on ;)

Michael Hardwick

I'm so excited for this journey! I've sent you (and explained why) the Chromatica era is so short in visuals. Still an incredible visual era, can't wait for you to dive in!

Michael Hardwick

First of all, PLEASE keep immediately googling things when you have questions. It’s become such a great addition to your videos. Great choice. Fun fact: There was actually no orchestra. Gaga and her co-producers intentionally made the entire album using only computers. She writes all her lyrics, by the way. Also, WHO just flat out lied to you about her singing ability?? Funnily enough, she's actually holding back her voice on this album on purpose lmao. She has 2 jazz albums with Tony Bennett, for crying out loud! 😂 Chromatica is her most traditional/generic pop album. It's easily digestible lyrics over relatively simple production, compared to her other albums, and she made it that way on purpose. She just wanted people to dance the pain away, and I think she accomplished that perfectly. You’ve barely scratched the surface of what this woman is capable of, so I hope you’re able to get to “Born This Way” and “ARTPOP” before MAYHEM comes out. Those two albums are largely considered by the little monsters (her fan base's name) to be her best works to date, and as a little monster since 2013, I have to agree. Since you’re asking to be educated, I do think it’s extremely important to know how much of a champion Gaga is for the LGBTQ community. She identifies as bisexual herself, and much like Madonna, has been unapologetically fighting for the rights of the community since the beginning of her career, when it was controversial to even highlight gay people in media. Also, imma need you to keep throwing that ass back like you were to “eNIGMA” bc it just added like 5 years to my life... and I need you to do it again for uh research purposes 👀
