Taylor Swift - TTPD The Anthology (full album) FIRST TIME REACTION

The FINAL Grammy nominated AOTY. "The Tortured Poets Department" by Taylor Swift. I'm completely aware of the STAN wars between the Swifties & my BELOVED Beyhive. I'm never gonna be the guy that pits two Women against each other. Let's keep in perspective that they're friends as well. We have so much evidence of that. I'm also aware of their public support of each other since the incident at the '09 VMAs. I feel like I need to preface this to some people because unfortunately, I received threats on my life for reacting to one single video of Taylor's last night. My intentions for this channel have always been to check out all different kinds of artists. From my FAVORITE now in Beyonce, to Little Mix, Victoria Monet, REN, Sabrina Carpenter, TRUENO, Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Chris Stapleton, my other future wife Tyla, FLO and so many others. I'm not gonna stop either! I LOVE music. All kinds of music. In my daily life, I can go from listening to Asthenia by blink-182 to the next song on shuffle being "Come Live With Me Angel" by the incomparable Marvin Gaye, to jamming to "The Thrill Is Gone" by RAYE. I know I fell behind on this channel and it feels like it's strictly a Beyonce channel at the moment because I've been limited in time and diving deeper into her art than any others. You know why, I've explained. I read your angry messages all the time about how I'm not giving your favorite artists the proper time of day. I completely understand that and now that my schedule has opened up I'll be getting to all the artists that you and I wanna check out. I think about it constantly lol. That being said, I'll continue my deep dive into Beyonce. I love her work and the human that she is, very much. There's still so much to get into. I even have a little surprise for you this weekend šŸ˜‰ If you actually like my videos, I'll see you there. If not, that's okay, and if you're only here for Beyonce content and want to just skip this one video out, that really is okay as well. I've got love for you. MUCH LOVE šŸ’™

Enjoy the video. I'm planning on doing a live stream watch party of the GRAMMYs this Sunday. Most likely on Twitch. Have a good night!

Taylor Swift - TTPD The Anthology (full album) FIRST TIME REACTION

Comments

"Down Bad", "Fresh Out the Slammer", and "Guilty as Sin?" just hit different.

Juan Barrera

In the smallest man who ever lived, an also-ran means a loser in a race by a large margin. So he treated her like the biggest loser.

Megan Suchodolski

Thanks so much for your reaction. Like many of Taylor Swift albums, TTPD grew on me the more I listened to it. Totally agree with your comment about loving music and enjoying everything that's out there. I have tremendous respect for anyone who has talent regardless of who they are. Re: Grammys, so happy that Beyonce finally won Album of the Year. We should celebrate all the amazing women artists who were nominated. Take care and keep sharing the love!

JettHayes

Just discovered you on YouTube and immediately came over to Patreon to support you. May favorite thing is watching people go on a Taylor Swift journey. She is my favorite artist and I love seeing people give her a chance and not listening to the haters.

KyraB

Your reaction to TTPD on you tube brought me here! You made my 3 hour drive back home enjoyable!

Chief

Sorry people are being shitty but I really enjoyed your reaction! The swifties will support you so forget the haters!

Erin Huffman

Heyyy! Sooo Idc what the haters say give us another Taylor ALBUM! šŸ’• Remember Taylor’s Version ( only Reputation and Taylor Swift dont have one)

Z

Really great reaction! Clara Bow was the first ā€œIt Girl.ā€ Robin is Adam Dressler’s son. Lady Idina Sackville was married three times and nicknamed ā€œThe Bolterā€ for her reputation as a rebel and wild partying during the 20’s. Travis tracks on the album are ā€œSo High Schoolā€ and ā€œThe Alchemy .ā€ Regarding your comment about the floating witch, Wanda, I recommend you watch the stage performances from the TTPD Era from the concert. You won’t be disappointed! ā™„ļøā™„ļøā™„ļøā™„ļø

Jacqueline Goon

One of my favorite things about watching people react to Taylor's music, that aren't Swifties, is that you bring such different interpretations to the stories. Even if they might not be what she "intended" or what we as fans consider them to be about, that's the beauty of music. We all relate to it differently and that's what brings us together even with different experiences!

Nicole

Here for more Taylor after watching your TTPD reaction! Love the way you really like into what the song is about and looking forward to you doing more! šŸ«¶šŸ»

Heather M

Oh yeah I agree!! It’s a great intro to Taylor I would be so up for watching a blind reaction!

Jenny V

I agree with Jenny, although I will say that watching the Eras Tour first shouldn't really spoil too much of her discography for you. MOST of the songs are radio singles (apart from a few Eras, like Evermore, Folklore, and maybe Midnights), so I feel like you'd already know 70% of the songs in the show. The woman has 230+ songs in her discography and only about 40-45 in the show, so there are still plenty of unknown songs and deep cuts that you'll hear in your album reactions. It might also give you a little taste of which albums might be your favorite--and when you get to the album reactions you can say, "hey! I know this one." LOL. But yeah, that's just me being greedy because the Eras Tour is SO good and I'm impatient.

Tyler Ward

Okay! I'll wait until I get around that era. It sounds like there's a lot out there to give me a background into her life. Thanks!

Daniel Juke

Doing it all!! :) I'll save it for last as you suggest šŸ’™

Daniel Juke

I'll write this down :)

Daniel Juke

More coming!! Thanks for subbing :)

Daniel Juke

Thank you!! I just find it really important to try to understand what the artist is trying to tell us. Appreciate you supporting :)

Daniel Juke

I plan on it! Thanks for subscribing!

Daniel Juke

Thanks Kelsie! The Grammys forced my hand with this being first haha. I've heard the other albums are even better, which is so exciting for me! haha can't wait :)

Daniel Juke

Thanks Sunny! More on the way šŸ’™

Daniel Juke

subscribed for more taylor and ari! ā™„ļø

sunny

This is such a long and lore heavy album to dive into as a first look at her discography, but you did a great job! For a lot of fans it was a grower album so you may find you enjoy it even more when you’ve experienced her other work and know more about her. Excited to see your reaction to whatever’s next!

kelsie

Subcribed to patreon hoping for more Taylor content (especially previous tours because her live performances are top tier)! Awesome reaction!

Emily Kazanfer

i subscribed to your patreon ten minutes into you youtube reaction because it's so obvious how authentic you are! really appreciate how you pay attention to the lyrics, who produced which song, and are honest when one song isn't your favorite. also props to using google to better understand at the time of listening!! drives me crazy when other reactors just stay clueless.

niccala

i think you would really love folklore and evermore for her writing but it's definitely not poppy. if you want a more upbeat songs try reputation, midnights.

niccala

Any time I come across a Taylor reaction, I’m sat! šŸ¤ŒšŸ½ to this one…MIGHT we get more of you reacting to her BECAUSE her diversity is šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„

Sonny S.

You need to watch the long pond sessions. It's on disney plus. It is an amazing behind the scenes look at the ideas behind the songs. And her Jack and Aaron recording during covid

Brandi Lemons

Would it be presumptuous for me to also request the eras tour, it’s just so good! Of course if you’re planning to do a deep dive and go through all Taylor’s albums, I suggest leaving the eras tour last but if not it’s also a good intro into each era and what it has to bring as well as showcase what sort of performer Taylor is

Jenny V

LOL @ 2:38 "matt healy, he's a prick isn't he?" yes yes you just listened to her lament about his assholery for 3 hours!

broccolit0

If you're interested, Miss Americana would be a great Patreon video! It's Taylor's documentary from 2019, so a bit outdated at this point, but it really describes her ascent to fame and you also get a look into Taylor's creative process. Jack is in there!

broccolit0

I'm sooo glad you enjoyed So High School, I think that's the best look we have into her next project! Crossing my fingers haha. I'm a Swiftie from KC so their relationship is everything to me.

broccolit0

ThanK you aIMee is 100% about Kim, she basically is a big reason on her getting cancelled with her ex-husband Kanye West, she lied, edited a phone call with Taylor and Kanye and then called her a snake when she called her out on it. She was not seen by the general public for a whole year after getting cancelled.

Braden Eugene

Thanks Dennis! I went into the album with an open mind and had no expectations. I'll never be the one quick to hate. I'm glad I got to finally experience her music for myself instead of just listening to all the different narratives. It was good. Which leads me to believe that her other albums that are spoken of more positively are great. I'll find out for myself! haha. Also, I'll never let them get me down! šŸ’™

Daniel Juke

Please remember that whoever is saying those crazy things are probably not people who typically comment positive things on your post. Those are crazy people. The real hive loves you!

S Rog

Absolutely welcome! I can’t wait to see more in its due time. You’ll get asked to watch the Eras Tour but id recommend it after you listen to most if not all her albums. It’s like Bey’s Homecoming where hearing the songs before helps the vibe. šŸ™‚

Z

PS - if there is a ā€œTaylor’s Versionā€ of an album, I would recommend listening to that one over the original release (for a few reasons). The masters to her first six albums (Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, and Reputation) were sold from her original record label (Big Machine) to Scooter Braun. She was not notified of the sale and felt that Braun and her former label boss (Scott Borchetta) were denying her access to her own music, which is why she re-recorded those albums and stamped them with ā€œTaylor’s Versionā€. To incentivize people to buy/stream the re-recordings, she includes several ā€œvault tracksā€ā€”songs that were written at the time of the original albums, but unfortunately scrapped. I feel it’s important to know the lore behind the re-recordings, because she does address it in some of her later albums (Folklore, Midnights). She also talks about it in her Netflix Documentary ā€œMiss Americanaā€ā€¦ ANOTHER one I highly recommend. It really allows you to understand what she’s been through at the hands of the media, the music industry, and even other artists… which ultimately helps you understand the meaning behind songs like ā€œthanK you aIMeeā€ and ā€œCassandraā€ from TTPD (among many others).

Tyler Ward

Oh yeah, it’s incredible! It’s 3 hours long and features 40 of her biggest hits from her first 10 albums (TTPD came in the middle of the tour, prior to the film being released). The show ran for nearly two years, across five continents, 50 cities and 149 shows. And it grossed over $2B, making it the top grossing tour of all time (by double, actually). Even more impressive, she sang LIVE for every show (yes, even during the pouring rain). Apparently she ran on a treadmill while singing her entire setlist out loud, adjusting her pace to match the tempo of each song, to prepare for the tour. But it’s easy to understand why. She does A LOT of running and dancing… the stage is massive. HAHA

Tyler Ward

You did a fantastic job breaking down the lyrics, with the limited knowledge of Taylor that you have. I felt like you immediately got her sense of humor and were able to take her writing for what it is: sometimes serious and sometimes witty. My personal favorite albums from her are Reputation, evermore, and folklore. Given how much you love Jack Antonoff’s production, I think you’ll enjoy all of those albums as well. Kim and Kanye really put her through the wringer in 2016. There's so much to it, but you’ll learn all about that once you get to ā€œReputationā€ and the history of that era. Lastly, I’ll just say… the funniest thing about these ridiculous stan wars is that BeyoncĆ© and Taylor are friends. I cannot imagine sending someone death threats on behalf of a celebrity who doesn’t know I exist. And this happens with just about every woman in pop music. A few months ago, Charli XCX had to speak out on IG about some of her fans at a Brazil concert chanting ā€œTaylor is dead!ā€ because of her song ā€œSympathy is a knifeā€. Don’t let the madness get you down, Juke! ā¤ļø

Dennis Roberts

First rule about Swifties: If it’s three hours or longer, we’re SAT and watching the whole thing (no bathroom breaks) šŸ˜‚ Honestly, the fandom will tell you different things, but ultimately you have to listen to her discography in a way that feels right to YOU. If you really want to get into the lore behind her music, it’s best to start at the very beginning and work your way to Midnights. I only say that because she’ll often revisit topics from previous albums and certain songs connect to each other. For example, ā€œDear Johnā€ from her 3rd album (Speak Now) and ā€œWould’ve, Could’ve, Should’veā€ (from Midnights) are about the same situation/person, but in ā€œWCSā€ she’s telling the story from a much more mature perspective. And this is only one example. She does this a lot, dropping little easter eggs to make the connections. It’s hard to pick up on them if you listen out of order. That being said, you might not enjoy every album (especially her early stuff, if you’re not a country fan), so I think you just have to decide for yourself if you want to go down the rabbit hole of lore and get the full experience. šŸ˜‚

Tyler Ward

Love that you're into understanding the meaning, asking us, and googling. if there's anything swifties love to do, is explaining Taylor's lyrics and meaning when somebody's interested. we love it. though, it can be overwhelming probably hahaha. I love your reaction :) thank you so much for trying Taylor :) I started watching and i'm only on track 5 and love it. again, thank you so much!!

Tal

It’s okay I have thick skin :) just wanted to make people aware about my plans going forward. I enjoyed this album and will check more out

Daniel Juke

Appreciate you Carlos!

Daniel Juke

Thanks Ryan!

Daniel Juke

Thanks for the awesome comment! That’s good to know going forward that she sometimes creates characters or changes names. The Kim thing is unfortunate. Don’t understand the whole Mean Girl/Boy persona. Usually untalented hateful people are like that though lol. Thanks for sharing some info with me!

Daniel Juke

People find everything cringe nowadays lol. That’s really cool though! So that’s where Jack got his start?

Daniel Juke

Oh wow I didn’t know she already had a film out for that haha. I’ll get to it :)

Daniel Juke

Thank you for this! Makes me think you actually watched my reaction lol. I’ve heard great things about Midnights and have been enjoying learning more about Jack’s processes. The only problem I’m facing going forward, is what album do I go into next and what order after that? Haha.

Daniel Juke

This means a lot! Thank you. I’ve always loved ALL kinds of music and will never stop. Definitely still rooting for Cowboy Carter 🤠

Daniel Juke

Forget the haters!! I normally wouldn’t even give them the time of day but I thought this was an important topic to shine some light on. There’s no reason why we can’t enjoy or even just listen to more than one artist lol. I’m excited to check more of her music out. I always planned on it from the beginning. Thanks for the message!

Daniel Juke

Thank you for the kind message. I’ll never let anyone get me down! They can’t break my soul. It is concerning though and I feel like I needed to bring awareness to it. I have love for so many different artists. Never thought that would be a bad thing lol

Daniel Juke

Thank you! The wildest part is all I did was watch one video lol. Blows my mind how quick some people are to violence.

Daniel Juke

Hadn't watched the reaction yet, excited. i'm so sorry you get threats. this is ridiculous. it's music. we all have different taste. anynways. starting to watch the reaction now. hope you'll react to more Taylor because each album is a different mood and a different vibe. she changes her sound with (almost) each album.

Tal

Can’t wait to watch this and your other drops when i get back to the states from vacation. Sorry you have OC people threating you, especially since you are completely unproblematic on this internet. KTSE Juke. āœŒšŸ¾

Carlos

Love your reactions! To anyone! Anyone being unfriendly isn’t worth wasting your energy on.

Ryan Kelleher

I absolutely enjoyed this reaction! šŸ«¶šŸ½ To answer some of your questions. Yes Taylor cusses in her later works but she tries her best to paint her picture without it. But she loves telling a story. A lot of her stuff is autobiographical. Part of why people will tell you backstory for references. Folklore and Evermore are her most fabled works. She created characters. Her music varies because it matches the mood of her life. This album came after a 6 yr relationship ended and she had a short relationship with a years long on and off again person who ghosted her. Travis has 2 songs- the alchemy (all the football references) and so high school. Taylor never confirms who a song is actually about. But she’s big on Easter eggs in songs and videos. With thanK you aIMee. It really prob is Kim. There’s a version she did that was thank You aimEe. In regard to Kanye. They really put her through the wringer publicly. That vma stunt was the beginning. There was an edited phone call and Kim leading the world to call Tay a snake. It was enough to make Tay disappear from public eye for a year. Then she came out with her album Reputation. I’m sure you’ll get info dumped by others if you continue this journey. 😬 Bullies can have a lasting effect like you said. Who are we to decide when someone should be healed enough past it. Also I think this IS Tays farewell to talking about it. Again thanks for an awesome reaction! šŸ’•

Z

Taylor was actually the first person to ask Jack produce on a record! Really cool to see how far he's come and how prolific his work is. Also your point about Taylor having intelligent, but witty/comedic writing is true! It's her whole brand and people still find it "cringe "lol

rit

Also, I would encourage you (at some point) to react to The Eras Tour on Disney+. It’s absolutely incredible and really showcases her versatility as an artist. Anyone who watches it and denies her amount of talent is completely DELULU.

Tyler Ward

The thing about Taylor Swift is that *most of her albums are so autobiographical, using metaphors and ā€œfictionalizedā€ stories to really express where she’s currently at in her life. TTPD was a controversial album to a lot of fans. Most people either loved it or didn’t really care for it—OR they preferred the first or second half of the album (which makes sense, considering they’re both very different sonically). I would compare the first half of TTPD to a mix between Midnights and Reputation, whereas the second half is more in the Folklore/Evermore space. That being said, I feel like TTPD represents some of her best lyricism (which, hello… it’d better, with the name Tortured POETS Department šŸ˜‚), but Folklore and Evermore really are just two of her absolute best albums lyrically. And Midnights is an incredible album. If you like Jack’s style of production, that’s the album for you. It DESERVED its AOTY win last year. I will die on that hill against ANY hater.

Tyler Ward

Really excited to dive along with you into discovering new music! I have never heard this album but I’m open to give it a try. After all that’s one of the best things about you and your channel, you don’t restrict yourself to discovering new things and you doing all the AOTY nominated albums has opened my perspective to new music. Still rooting for Cowboy Carter, tho šŸ¤žšŸ¼

Eduardo

Very great reaction and analysis of TTPD!! I'm a big taylor fan however this album wasn't my favorite but it was not bad in any way. I personally don't think it will win the Grammy for album of the year but it at least did deserve the nomination. Sonically she has better produced albums that I cannot wait for you to react to especially Reputation! I feel like Reputation might be more up your alley of music. That's the thing about taylor also that many people sleep on. She has music for every music fan out there whether it be country, folk, rap, r&b, pop, indie, hip hop etc... she's done it all. Also wanna say kuddos for reacting to her and giving her a chance that many people don't. Can't wait to watch more!!! šŸ¤™šŸ¼šŸ¤ŸšŸ¼āœŠšŸ¼ also #forgetthehaters! šŸ˜†

Jacob J

I’m so sorry that people are threatening you. That’s unacceptable. Some people are mean just for the sake of being mean and it’s awful. Please continue to listen to whoever you want to! I’m personally really happy to see that you’ve reacted to this album because Taylor is one of my favorite artists. I just don’t know why people can’t let other people enjoy different things anymore. Try not to let it get you down <3.

LeAnna

I’m so sorry. Threats on your life should not have happened no matter what you said or chose to react to. I love your love for music and every type of music. Listen and react to whatever you want to and don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise. You are such a genuine person I can tell just from watching all your reactions. Keep doing what you’re doing and loving music the way you do. Whoever said that should be ashamed. Keep up the great work!

Alex Sheppard
