Oh my gawd not to be obnoxious but I had to come back and say that yes, Lisa is multilingual! She can fluently speak English, Thai, Korean and Japanese. While also being known as Blackpink's lead rapper she was also known as their main dancer!! She can MOVE! She's a multi-talented, multilingual QUEEN! And just to top things off she's going to be making her acting debut in the third season of the show "The White Lotus" on HBO this year! So yeh I said she's a Rockstar.

2024-07-11 07:10:49 +0000 UTCWell since there hasn't been a lot of explanation, I guess I'll step up to the plate. Lisa is the main rapper from the Korean Pop group called "Blackpink". Blackpink debuted in 2016 and are pretty much the most well know Kpop girl group of our time. Although Blackpink is a Kpop group, Lisa herself is NOT Korean. Lisa is from Thailand. There are quite a few "Kpop" Idols that are from Thailand actually but I'd say Lisa is definitely the most popular. This is technically not Lisa's "solo" debut. She has put out solo music before but that was under her old label YG Entertainment (the one that Blackpink is still under as a group). Rockstar is Lisa's solo debut under her own company called "LLOUD" So basically, Lisa is now managing herself as a solo act while still under contract with YG Entertainment for Blackpink group activities. So the group hasn't disbanded. The members are just taking time to pursue their solo careers as well. Rockstar is totally different for Lisa. It's her saying "Yeh that's right, I have no limitations now! I'm gonna do what I want and I'm gonna kill it!" and that's exactly what she did. It's wild that this is just a single, she's just giving us a taste of what she can do when she's not being managed by someone else. The choreographer for Rockstar was Sean Bankhead btw!! Most recently known for Victoria Monet's "On My Mama", he's also worked with Normani extensively and also Megan Thee Stallion and Lil Nas X. The video shows Lisa's home country of Thailand. She shut down the busiest street in the country to shoot this video. She paid every vendor that normally sells there 20,000 baht (Thai currency) which is WAY more than they make in a month over there. She really loves her country! Another fun fact is that some of the shots of the women throughout the video are of famous transgender women from Thailand. Thailand is one of those countries that spiritually believes in the existence of a "third gender" or "separate sex" and transgender woman are often seen as falling under that category so there are many famous trans women in Thailand.
