The Wild Within Devlog #9: Nix’s new CGs & progress update

We wanted to share what we’ve been working on since the last devlog!
Our main focus has been on finishing Nix’s scene, since it’s currently incomplete in the game.
CG Nix hugging you — fully finished with all emotion variants. Here it is!
CG Nix Hjob — also fully completed! This one has a lot of alternate versions — the human and werewolf routes, different hand positions, expressions, and endings. You’ll be able to experience them all in the game!
You’ll now have the option to turn into a wolf again if you previously chose to stay human in this scene. (You can also continue the human route instead — the choice is yours!)
Script & dialogue for the scene are almost done. Once the writing is polished, we’ll add sounds and move forward to the next part of the story — where you’ll get a short moment to rest… and meet a new girl

However, how you use your werewolf power is quite an important part of the story and relationships with the characters, so right now it’s hard to imagine this choice being automated. For example, in Nix’s scene she really wants to see your transformation — she’s curious and wants to understand it better (she’s into science and experiments, after all). Later there will be moments where your choice will directly affect your relationships — some characters might get scared or disappointed, and others might react differently. That’s why I feel it’s too meaningful to turn into a single menu option. Still, in the future, we might add this as an optional setting for players who really dislike one of the forms.

2025-10-18 13:53:58 +0000 UTCIt's really not needed until there's a lot of scene/characters, but a preference option in the menus that toggles between automatically selecting the human/werewolf option for scenes might be something to add in the future. You'd need a disclaimer if a scene ONLY has a human or werewolf variant, since I remember those being a thing, but again, that's all in the future. I only bring that up because for some reason I imagined this turning into a Clippy-type situation where you have to keep selecting the option you already picked in the previous scene. Though with Nix I can imagine the context is her sort of teasing the character in the latter part of the scene, hence the option to TF being offered again.
