Shoot à la maison de maitre

Here are some pictures of the backstage of the photoshoot at the maison de maitre. La maison de maitre is a fantastic location in the heart of Brussel for photoshoot but it's has a very bad lighting configuration. Thing that greatly destabilized me during the shoot, we even had to use our emergency lighting. At that time I was only a natural light photographer with no practice in artificial light. It's from that time I really try to prepare my shoot in term of lightning situation, I try to visit before the shoot the location and see the lighting situation. Then I do a list of the all the best spot for the model. That work I called it pre-production and now my pre-production is a very long process in term of time.

I do not come anymore without a solid pre-prod schema at a photoshoot. Long story short my pre-prod in 3 times longer than the duration of shoot and the main steps are the following :

1.  Light come first => Where are the best spot in terms of light ?

2. What are the reflexion due to the materials of the room that I will have ?

3. How many mood can I do in the locations ? If there are a lot of moods can bright several models without having redundant pictures.

4. A mood board with several outfit (max 4), those outfit will have to match with the mood, the girl, the location and lighting schema.

Voici quelques photos des coulisses de la séance photo à la maison de maître. La maison de maître est un endroit fantastique au cœur de Bruxelles pour une séance photo, mais sa configuration d'éclairage est très mauvaise. Chose qui m'a grandement déstabilisée pendant le shoot, nous avons même dû utiliser notre éclairage de secours. A cette époque, je n'étais qu'un photographe de lumière naturelle sans aucune pratique de la lumière artificielle. 

C'est à partir de ce moment que j'essaye vraiment de préparer mes shoots , j'essaie de visiter avant le lieu et de voir la situation d'éclairage. Ensuite, je fais une liste des meilleurs endroits pour le/la modèle. Ce travail, je l'ai appelé la pré-production et maintenant ma pré-production est un très long processus en terme de temps.

Je ne viens plus sans un schéma de pré-production solide lors d'une séance photo. En gros ma pré-prod est 3 fois plus longue que la durée du tournage et les principales étapes sont les suivantes:

1. La lumière vient en premier => Où sont les meilleurs spots en termes de lumière?

2. Quelle sont les réflexions due aux matériaux de la pièce que j'aurai?

3. Combien de mood puis-je faire dans les lieux? S'il y a beaucoup d'ambiances, on peut shooter plusieurs modèles sans avoir d'images redondantes.

4. Un moodboard avec plusieurs tenues (max 4), ces tenues devront correspondre à l'ambiance, à la modèle, à l'emplacement et au schéma d'éclairage.
