Some Information about the Patreon relaunch
Added 2023-08-02 13:03:02 +0000 UTCI wanted to make this post to clarify possible new Patreons on why there is already a bunch of posts before this one.
This used to be a personal Patreon that I set up as a tip box for the work I was doing with free printable figurines and minis. I wasn't so sure of how I would run a Patreon for 3D printing and frankly, I was in doubt if I really wanted to work with that, there was also no size content been produced for that audience. 3D Printing commissions are still the way I am making money now, but as one can see following the old posts I decided to change focus with the Patreon to game development.
That is when I started working on a volleyball game. I am still very fond of the project, there were a bunch of ideas still not implemented, it would even feature size content as one of the main mechanics. Unfortunately while developing the game I felt it was becoming too much for me at the time. I was trying to do everything through blueprints in Unreal since I lacked C++
Unreal programming knowledge. Both the game and that main size mechanic were also dependent on a story progression and a big environment to not be just disconnected volleyball matches.
My Patreons at the time, having been originally there to support my 3D printing work, started leaving one by one. When I had no patrons left I decided to close it down and take a step back to rethink and study how I could make it all work. Since then I've completed an Unreal C++ course and am feeling way more comfortable coding in Unreal. I've also launched 2 free short games, featuring size content, which I did during the course: You Are Small And The Floor Is Lava and Grand Larceny Tales: The Underground Cathedral. I want to continue studying game development to improve as a game developer.
That is why I rebranding as Lab. Churros and relaunching this Patreon to support the development of my new sci-fi game and my studies to further improve the games I can make.
The game might be in a pretty placeholder-looking stage right now but I am about to start working on the art assets for it. Which is a great time for people to join and influence the game's aesthetics.
I will not be deleting the old posts as I think they have some archival value and I will be making them available for all my patrons.
