Sticky Particles - Houdini Tutorial

Hello everyone! In this tutorial, we are going to learn how to emit thousands of particles and make them sticky!

As you may see during the video, it is all about exploring nodes, tweaking some values, change some parameters until you get the look you want. I did not cut some mistakes I did while recording because I want you to see that sometimes mistakes happen and do not be afraid to try some new stuff as I did, for example, using the velocity to color the particles. That did not work at all haha.

Hope you enjoy the video!  And don't forget that you can request any art study or tutorial about any tool or node inside Houdini.

Sticky Particles - Houdini Tutorial

just a fast question.. what hardware are you using for houdini ? your simulation seems to run very well after many frames ...

Mini

Hello, I'm coming from Cinema 4D and going through your tutorials one by one. I have a base foundation for Houdini but a beginner when it comes to particle simulations in this program. I'm running into some issues at the beginning of the tutorial. At 2:19, it shows warnings in the popGrains node for missing pscale and other attributes. On my end, I get no such warnings and as I follow this tutorial step by step inputting exactly the same parameters, I cannot get clumping to work properly like you have it at the 8:30 mark. For some reason, no matter how much I add stiffness to the clumping it changes nothing. It's the same animation throughout with very minor clumping like it was at the initial value of 10, but even when increasing the value incrementally to say 1,000,000 the particle simulation does not change. I've tried changing the weight and other parameters around but it was giving me some weird results. My end goal for this is to have sticky particles form like this that seem to self replicate to form a specific object's container and not move past that. I'll figure that out later but was wondering if you could help me with troubleshooting why clumping doesn't seem to want to work on my end. Thank you for all of your tutorials. I can't wait to become proficient in Houdini!
