(Belated story edit!)
Sam plants her hand against a rock and kicks up into a one-arm handstand. It's slow and slightly awkward - grace and balance were never her greatest strength. One thing of many she has to keep working on.
She starts her slow, controlled push-ups. Each a painful grind that eventually turns to torture for her triceps and shoulders. As she works to exhaustion until her cramped arms can no longer move, she doesn't let herself down. Sam stays upside down and holds the pose, she balances, shaking and readjusting for as long as it takes, until she regains the strength to go for more reps. This cycle hsppens over and over, until she is barely making one rep at a time with a tremulous, barely maintained balance strains her core for minutes at a time. When it hits dusk, she'll switch arms, and try to last until tomorrow dawn. If she fails, she will be trying again tomorrow - on a sharper rock.
