He sees people as assets first. The Jill/Ryan scene shows their shared trauma and vulnerability. It's less about simple romance and more about Jill finding agency through empathy, helping Ryan navigate the terror she understands intimately. Second Dawn thought Ryan was a lost cause. Jill doesn't believe in the Kobyashi Maru scenario. 😉

Some beautiful art yet again, Emory.

He sees people as resources, as variables in a grand experiment, which I think is more unsettling than simple megalomania. Of course you're right about Jill and Ryan. Ryan is slowly discovering a resilience and emotional intelligence that society often overlooks or devalues. He's beginning to realize he can find inner strength from finding agency within a system designed to strip him of it.

I know Emory pays attention to realism in her stories, so I don’t believe another lead male role will appears in the remaining part of this Saga and Jill can sort of fall in love with him.

I think we all know that Emory is a perfectionist, intent on getting everything she publishes "just right." The level of detail in her artwork and the intricacies and depth of her storytelling are the products of not just a talented and fertile mind, but also a lot of painstakingly meticulous hard work, as well. And she's pretty damned prolific at doing what she does. For example, during the past 30 days she's produced over 130 unique pages of art and prose in three episodes of Jack & Jill, two episodes of Pleasure Drones, one episode of Half Sisters, and ten pieces of pinup art. I know you're not complaining, but short of cloning the dear girl, I'm afraid we'll all have to bear the wait we have to endure between episodes.

Also... why *does* Xu put so much trust in Mike anyway? For a man who has been betrayed by his henchmen more than a few times, it seems weird to me that Mike is given such latitude to act.

It's worth a second read, and while if doesn't really reveal why Xu fears Morosini, it does shed some light on the current episode. Read together (along with some other Phase 9 parts) it sure looks like Mike is Morosini's "inside man" and if that's the case, Xu is screwed if he relies on Mike as he seems to indicate he intends to in this episode.

As much as he hid his reaction to Mr Xu, it must have been quite shocking for him to see his new projected feminised form. In conclusion Emory this episode seems to be one in which all the pieces are being put in place in the build up to what will be a very action filled episode. I’m not sure what the next piece that needs to be positioned before ‘all hell breaks loose,’ let alone what will follow in the aftermath!? Great episode Emory with outstanding images.

This would be interesting What if story if Jack and Mason switched roles, like Jack hired by Xu to be Melissa's handler. This would lead to interesting senarios that would differ from the original timeline.

And while I understand Morosini's desire to avenge his murdered lover, is there more to the history between these two men that causes such fear in Xu? Oh, and Dr Mason is gonna be gorgeous. I wonder what name she'll go by.
