Half Sisters - Delay + Pinups

First, I'm so sorry for leaving you all in the lurch yesterday for a new Half Sisters. Last week, life decided to throw a wrench in the works with a family emergency (everyone's fine now, thank goodness!), and it just completely derailed my writing schedule.
Sorry for not giving you all a heads up sooner. Things were a bit of a mess for a minute.
But here are two Nikki pinups. She's trying on her old 'date attire' before needing to go to the salon for her makeover! 😂
Anyway, I'm channeling all my energy into getting the new episode out to you as quickly as I can. And I'm still going to do my very best to keep the rest of the schedule on track.
Also, I just want to say, you all are absolutely amazing. Your support and enthusiasm for these stories is what keeps me going, and I can't even begin to tell you how much it means to me.

My little sister is stylist and when i was younger i had this cool Waikiki T-shirt to sleep but i never really wore it because my sister took it as a top to go in the bar or nightclub. I also saw her regularly with new skirt, robe or small top or sleeveless dress even though it was just one of my shirts or a tshirt she simply drop in my wardrobe and adjusts the way to wear it. ( and it stayed the same shirt). Just simply wearing normally a shirt result different on woman. and in france countryside, it's common to see young women with tomboy dress style sometime.

Nikki looks angry and defensive in the first picture and apprehensive in the second, almost as if she knows that this time she’s fighting a battle she can’t win. The forces ranged against her are just too overwhelming. However, I’m presuming that all this predates both Jill’s and Sandy’s arrival on the scene - and the first meeting between those two should be quite something - and their influence could change Nikki’s attitude considerably. Whatever it may be, it will certainly be interesting.

2024-11-20 09:37:15 +0000 UTCGemma, thank you for the response. I have read it, and Emory is an artist no doubt. I am not trying to argue it, simply sharing my thoughts as I read it. It is one thing to be conditioned, shaped, and molded into something. It is quite another to discover and unconditionally embrace one's own autonomy in that thing you have been shaped into and in so doing find or create your own person, unique and distinct from the original mold. Sandy seems to pull this off flawlessly within a very short period after being allowed by Mrs. Ferris to become her own person. I would think that would take a lot of trial and error and/or a lot of counseling and personal coaching. Something that might have seemed dry and time consuming to cover in any detail, but perhaps covered in a future back story summary? And even if I failed to appreciate how thorough and affective Mrs. Ferris was, it does not explain why Nikki seems to regress so dramatically once back in Texas. Yet her physical transformation seems pretty complete. She is less convincing dressed as a male than as a female. Even her own ex girlfriend did not recognize her until she saw a birth mark after taking her shirt off. You would think her own Mom and Dad would recognize that. Especially living in Texas, that since stepping off the plane in the red tights, sports bra and heals, that she was far safer presenting female in public than male. Plus there is something to be said for hiding in plain sight. She is more prone to be recognized wearing her old oversized male clothing in public than dressing female. I get that she may not be anywhere ready emotionally to accept her reality, but her body, at least as it is drawn in the panels, creates a reality for Nikki that can't realistically be ignored. Especially in a place where gender fluidity has little tolerance. Then there is all the pressure of the cloths shopping. I agree that it is a great vehicle for illustrating the mental and emotional transformation. They were some amazing scenes a few episodes ago in the mall. But Hutchinson is such a control freak, I am surprised he did not provide at least a starter wardrobe for Nikki to ensure she was always looking her best and how he expects her to look. Also to avoid any fashion crimes a young male might make shopping for women's clothing and which might blow Nikki's cover and sink her as the star QB's "IT GIRL". I am also curious how Nikki's parents are going to explain Nick being missing and them being seen out in public with Nikki. It sounds like they are in a small college town where everyone knows each other. People know them having a son and no daughter. They can say Nick is off getting medical care or transferred to another school. But who is Nikki? Same last name. Is she a niece who is to be a new coed at the college? Do her "aunt and uncle" show up for "parents weekend in the fall? Perhaps this is the one of the down sides to the delays between episodes, too much time to over think instead of just sitting back and enjoying the story as it unfolds. Like I said, I am sure Emory has some great plot development and twists and turns ahead for us. I am on pins and needles waiting!

2024-11-20 00:02:33 +0000 UTCNow that you bring up Sandy and Nikki. I have been a little surprised at something I noticed. Sandy has been transitioning faster than Nikki. Yet Sandy has had no real instruction or guidance and seems to have adopted and is projecting a fully female persona that is fashion conscious. Nikki who went through months at Second Dawn was receiving training in walking in heals and make-up, etc..., and who we were introduced to walking off a private jet in red tights and matching sports bra and heals, is struggling with the whole fashion, heals, and make-up thing like she has never done these things before. And I get that she does not want this transition, is still fighting it, and still harbors hopes of returning to her old self. But it just seems like those struggles with traditionally female things are a bit exaggerated given how much training New Dawn likely put her through. Even if it is just at a Pavlovian level of preconditioning. That is not to say that there is a huge difference in having some reluctant fundamental skills and actually learning to embrace and enjoy them. And how does Scott go from being forced to become Sofia, to fully embracing being and blooming as Sandy without the least bit mental health counseling or formal training to master voice, walk, mannerisms, hair, nails, fashion, etc... Just because you all of a sudden have the money to buy Gucci does not mean you wind up looking Gucci. Sandy has been through a lot. And even though she had nothing to hold on to or worry about losing, does not mean it is still not a lot to process and sort out while finding your true north. But perhaps that is all back story we get at some later time? I am excited to see how Sandy teams up with Lauren and company to help bring Nikki around to embracing who new reality. And to see how Jill might be a part of this as well.

2024-11-19 21:03:49 +0000 UTCHer expression in the pic with the shirt is very emotional - she looks like she's about to cry at the realization that her efforts to stay Nick are failing, that she is finally realizing that she can't go back, but she's also frightened of who she is now and where her life will take her. Uncertainty, fear, grief at what she lost - it's all very well captured in that expression. Her pose and posture are likewise in between - trying to stand strong, but the feminine hand on her hip is undeniably feminine, and her uncertainty is subconsciously preventing her from standing tall and masculine. Shirt with no bra - another attempt to be masculine, but her curves and prominent nipples betrayed that completely. And such a nice touch of the trophies BEHIND her - another symbol of the life that's now behind her. Extraordinarily well portrayed.

Even with that worry so evident on her otherwise gorgeous face, she's still a charming young lady. I particularly like the one with the shirt - it suggests a person torn in who she is, and making a brave, hesitant, and ultimately futile effort to reclaim her masculinity, and her expression suggests that she knows her efforts have failed.

The latest pinup pictures of Nikki are amazing. She is so beautiful and looks so cute, even though (and maybe because of) how she even looks so pretty with that pout and look of puzzlement and concern on her face. I particularly love the second image when she tries putting on her old dating attire. It really seems to have driven home to her the reality that to that even in male clothing she just looks like a very cute girl trying on her much bigger boyfriend’s shirt and tie.
