Anywhere but Boring - Part 5

The next episode of Anywhere but Boring!

As Dylan prepares for life-changing surgery, he tries to figure out where Dylan ends, and Lily begins.

Here's a link to PART 1, PART 2, PART 3, and PART 4!

Can't wait to read your thoughts! This part of Dylan's story will conclude next month with Part 6. Although that doesn't mean we won't see them again. 😊

From your keyboard to HBO's inbox, Stacy! LOL - thank you!

This should be an actual TV show.....a lot better than some of the drivel they put on these days hehe x

Dylan trying to steal a decade from Lily 😒😒

Thank youuu! πŸ’–

Thanks, Bos! Therapy can be hit or miss, but a good therapist can offer valuable perspective. I'm happy this struck a chord with you and helped spark some inspiration. Keep writing!

Emory Ahlberg

I also included a full .txt file for easy translation. 😊

Thank you, Jade! πŸ’– Writing those therapy scenes was intense. I kept wondering: How far can someone deny their true self before it all crashes? Lily's clinging to this "great acting" idea, but deep down, she likely knows there's more.

Emory Ahlberg

Thanks a lot, Robert! I'm so happy you're enjoying this format. I've always enjoyed prose (I've written a couple as-yet unpublished novels) and wanted to experiment with this approach, and Dylan's story felt like the perfect opportunity. There's so much internal conflict and nuance to his journey that I couldn't capture in just dialogue and images alone. I'm curious - did you find any particular moments or internal monologues especially revealing?

Emory Ahlberg

Writing her internal justifications and struggles was fun and enlightening at the same time. Thank you, Gemma!

Thank you, Maggie! From your keyboard to Netflix's inbox... lol

Right?!

One of these days, Jade...we will chat on Discord at length...if you wish it so. Feel free to invite muse Emory, Alyson and Zoe as well.

Jeez muse Emory, you captured the essence of being trans and captured the therapist to perfection. I have always considered therapists to be quacks (like those curing "The French Disease" with leeches & mercury) but you seem to have successfully changed my mind, inspired me and gotten me out of my writer's block doldrums. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you.

This egg is like a black hole where all of her doubts and insecurities about Lily - about _herself_ get sucked away and into a space where she can't really fully acknowledge them safely. I love how clearly Amy tells her that she's dissociating from "Dylan" and how unhealthy it is. And she's just like "nah, brah, it's cool"

Just use the snipping tool to grab a screenshot, then use text recognition button and copy / paste it to any favorite translator you use... (just checked and it works pretty good)

I’m really enjoying the emphasis on script instead of illustration for once, although the renders are up to your usual high standard and their relative scarcity allows us to observe the gradual changes in Dylan’s appearance in more detail. The format gives the reader a far greater insight into Dylan’s thoughts and feelings than the usual speech inside a render would. It’s essentially an illustrated novella, and I’m loving it.

Robertlouis

Amazing Emory. So interesting to hear Lily’s internal thoughts and rationale and the gradual shifts in her thinking as she slowly embraces her new identity.

Gemma

OMG, WOOOOOOOOW, I was laughing and crying while reading every page in this update... I love this story so much... imagine watching it on Netflix in a few years... ohhh ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
