I thought of the two, the slow transition and acceptance was closer to truth in The Skin I Live In, and it's not 100% clear that she will successfully transition in the end - the questions remain live and open for the viewer to draw their own conclusions. I admit to some bias, though - I love Aldomovar's films - The Skin I Live in is not the only film he's made with TG themes.

2025-01-19 03:11:45 +0000 UTCFun question! 'The Skin I Live In' is brilliant - Almodรณvar really understands how to explore gender and identity through a psychological lens. It's disturbing but purposefully so, examining trauma and transformation in ways that feel earned rather than exploitative. 'The Assignment'... well... *awkward cough* Let's just say it manages to make my favorite tropes pretty boring, which is quite an achievement! ๐ Though the graphic novel (based on the original screenplay) is actually much better - it delves deeper into the psychological aspects and doesn't feel like it's just checking boxes. You can get it on Amazon here: https://amzn.to/4hglVOk I think you're right that they're totally changed very quickly in both movies potentially makes these stories more palatable to mainstream audiences - it removes the whole 'choice' debate and focuses on identity versus circumstance. Like an extreme version of 'what would you do if you woke up as a girl tomorrow?' But I think we're still waiting for mainstream media to really get it right - to explore these themes without either sensationalizing (okay, a LITTLE sensationalism isn't too bad ๐) or sanitizing them. Also, never apologize for thinking too much about this "stuff!"

Remember seeing Michelle act out rage seeing nude body first time female. She often plays tough girl roles . Her face is a good looking for these type movies . I do think Michelle is beautiful face and fit firm woman nude body . Wish I could see more of her nude . The Skin I Live In only a few previews . Looked like plastic surgery developing incredible long life skin and tough free from injury . That is if I found the movie your writing about . Would his reaction be so much wanting to be a man again ? I think there is many people desiring real life sex changes body changes . Genderqueer is a name for this desire. Body and or sex dysmorphia. Jiz Lee genderqueer star sex performance actor is worth looking up . Recently had top surgery to remove breasts with no nipples. Jiz a stage name is a real life triathlete and body very lean cut muscled . Face expressions during sex are erotically hot top watch and squirting orgasms explosive . Jiz doesn't identify as male or female. Many other people in real life do top surgery and more . Here we get to watch men change and read about their thoughts inside minds. Did you ever think about being the other person your having sex with? It is a super fun fantasy. I'm a very fit man muscled cut in real life.

Since we are all big fans of your work and many of your stories revolve around forced or involuntary transitions, I was wondering how the larger group feels about two fairly recent-ish mainstream movies on the topic with some big name Hollywood actors in both. The first is "The Skin I Live In" with Antonio Banderos and Elana Araya. The Second is "The Assignment" with Michelle Rodriguez and Sigourney Weaver. Banderos and Weaver both play the villains, doctors, kind of like Xu, who border on amoral but do seem to have their own twisted moral code and sense of "justice" that motivates and guides their actions. The Assignment is an action movie with a twist, hence Rodriguez (Resident Evil, Fast and Furious,...) as the lead as a male hit-man who is "re-assigned" and seeking justice for what was done while adapting to his new female body. "Skin" is more drama and think piece going through the transition physically and psychologically in much closer detail. But of course with some adrenaline spiking action moments. Both are on the streaming services. I think you can even buy both on Prime. So I am just curious has anyone else here seen these two movies and what they thought about them? And of course, I would most especially love to hear your thoughts Emory on these two movies and what you you think is the mainstream future of such stories? Were these one offs? Possibly simply a novelty of easy money job? Or, possibly just an "art piece" to say "look how edgy and unconventional I am, yes I went there"? Or is there a future to which these may have opened the door? Also curious if the fact the main characters in both made "full transitions" may have some how made these stories a little more acceptable for mainstream audiences since once they accepted the transition of the character there was no residual physical confusion to distract them from accepting the character with body and identification fully matching. Of course it does not hurt that the women (both biological) who played these roles are absolutely beautiful. Also could the fact that it was forced maybe make the leads even sympathetic characters for mainstream audiences? It kind of gets past the LGBTQ issues as choice or biology. These are both guys (presumably straight) who now have to cope and live with something beyond their control. You could be the manliest man than ever manned, but if you wake up in a female body one day what are you going to do? You did not have to choose or like it, it is just reality now. Who and what are you in light of this new reality you find yourself in? How do you make a life that brings balance to your outside and inside? I know, I know, I think WAY TOO MUCH about this stuff. ๐ค๐ค ๐

2025-01-15 16:43:33 +0000 UTCAnd OMG, Jill's sister seems to be becoming an even bigger door kicking bad-ass than her husband (thought he was at least - and OMG I can only wonder what THAT relationship is going to look like after he/she is found/rescued after the chaos of the Party, that could be a whole sub story for a J&J part, she is kicking ass and he is all girly-fied... Plus there is some major baggage to that relationship that needs be resolved or at least addressed. I don't give it much hope, but then again the new reality for both of them and major power dynamic shift may surprise us ๐). If Jill takes the keys to the kingdom from Xu they could work together expanding that mission to help the companions transition, but also go around the world, kicking in doors when needed, rescuing all the "Toys" and making the Island the "Island of misfit Toys" (reference to Rudolph the Red nose reindeer kids show). A sort of refuge, shelter or halfway house where they too might be able to one day transition to a more "normal" life, or at least have a safe place to live with some degree of dignity. Actually that sounds like it would make one hell of a TV series or binge-able multi-part streaming series. Quick, call Netflix! ๐

Or that the next part or two or three left of Phase 9 might be the end of the Phase 9 arc before starting Phase 10? Well if Phase 10 is the end, I hope that it is your longest phase yet, because I am so not ready for this story to end. Especially since beyond Maid to Order and Half Sisters there may be a whole Xu-niverse of stories (It is seeming more and more Home Coming has direct connections and possibly even Anywhere but Boring) started or yet to be started with origins in J&J and that might need some place to link them all back to as they eventually run to their conclusions. I mean just the last two parts of J&J with Holly and Angela, OMG! If Holly survives, I would love to see a Holly and Angela story set like 5 years in the future living in Milan. Even it it was just a very short series of stories to see them living that mushy girlie happy ending as the credits roll with the sun setting over a beautiful Italian pastoral scene and Holly and Angela walking into it.

Nikki has excellent taste in antiheroes. ๐ The voice breaking is a detail I thought would add to Nikki's struggle with identity. She's starting to be unable to help herself... Evie has definitely noticed Nick/Nikki, and her motivations are... let's say, multifaceted. Lauren might have a few plans of her own when it comes to Nikki. Hehe - Yeah, Nikki was definitely taking a risk with those headphones. But she needed to rock out! Hehe. I'm sure the sheriff noticed her driving like a maniac, though. And don't worry, there's more Evie coming up. She's going to be quite the influence on our story. ๐
