Caption Sequel! - Atonement, Part 2

Hello all!

Last month, the caption sequel poll was won by a SINGLE vote. That's nuts! So for this month I pledged to make a sequel for the "losing" caption.

And here it is! Atonement, Part 2!

I also included the original caption, which I wrote back in the elder days of 2014 (!) 😀

Text

Joel stands outside the bedroom, taking a moment for himself. Herself? These days, he isn’t sure which pronoun fits better.

Anatomically, of course, there’s no question. Thanks to the surgery in Thailand before the wedding, he now meets Pastor Martin’s definition of womanhood. Joel isn’t sure he’ll ever get used to the new female genitals between his legs. The sensation is so strange! It’s especially bad when he and Martin fuck. Well, “bad” as in “good.” Actually, “mind-blowing” was more appropriate.

But he isn’t supposed to enjoy getting screwed! He’s a man, or at least he’s supposed to be. Right?

“Are you coming to bed, honey?” Pastor Martin calls. “I’m ready for you.”

“In a second,” Joel says.

The truth is, despite everything, he enjoys his new role. He was a useless drunk who killed a woman because he didn’t care about anyone or anything. Now he’s a pastor’s wife. He has a community, responsibilities to the congregation, and hopes for the future. Joel lost his masculinity, be he gained a new life.

But has he atoned? Not yet. He’s not sure he ever will. He took a life. The only way to atone is to make a new one, and he can’t anymore.

Yet.

Joel thrust out his slim belly. What would it be like to be pregnant? Uterine transplants are becoming more common. Maybe soon they’ll offer them to... people...? No, to women like her. Could she really be a mother? Why not. She’s already become so much more than she ever expected.

Jolene turned into the doorway and smiled. “Ready or not, pastor, here I come.”

Oh, this was a fun twist. I didn't expect a happy ending either. Sometimes they just happen, LOL.

I'm a little surprised, I didn't expect you to give such a dark original comic a happy ending! I've read just about all your stuff and you still surprise me!

Jessica Thence

Oh, you know he makes her do her wifely duties on the regular!

Emory Ahlberg

I'm sure the pastor makes her atone every night LoL x

Thank you, Storm!

Emory Ahlberg

wooow amazing good

Thanks so much, France. For a bit, I wasn’t sure what would happen to Jolene. Would her new husband treat her poorly? Then I decided it was more interesting if she (to her horror, at first) found the experience of being a sober woman better than being an alcoholic man.

Emory Ahlberg

Thanks, Jen! Figured Jolene actually deserved her redemption.

Emory Ahlberg

LOL - that’s both wicked and sweet, Erica.

Emory Ahlberg

Pregnant, Jolene will make a very pretty woman and she already has the sensitivity ... she seems very submissive to her husband. This short story has a lot of depth and possibility.

France Day

aww what a sweet ending

Jennifer

We can say that she was forgiven by where he sinned !! 😁
