I-Land | Ep 12 FINALE Reaction

I was a fan of Sunoo's from the beginning. I think throughout the entire show he was one of the most consistent performers and because his strength is in cuter concepts that is overlooked. Sunoo has shown he can slip into more mature concepts as well. I think him being against K in the end may make some people forget his consistency, I think he only had one 'bad' week but that could also just be my personal bias. I feel like K was always going to debut in the Japanese Unit. Much like with this show where Heesung was the 'Leader' I think K was put on here to showcase himself and his talents so that he could have his own group in the future. Debuting was always in the books for him. I will always be happy about who was picked especially seeing how far they have come now. This was the perfect line-up.

I enjoyed rewatching with you especially when compared to how far they have come. They just did their comeback Dimension-Answer and are blowing up the charts and tik tok with Blessed Cursed and Polaroid Love. I agree that Sunoo was the right producer’s choice and adds to the group’s youthful concepts. And he was one of my favs anyway for his ability to connect with the global audience and “bring joy and positivity” which fits Enhypen. But I wanted all 9 to debut after my first watch (heartbroken for K particularly) but now I think the group is perfect “as is”.

I don't know if you noticed, but Sunoo is the ONLY one of the lineup who looked directly at the camera every time it was his camera time. There are obviously cameras everywhere in this facility and especially during a performance/broadcast, they would need to be aware of that red light when it comes your way. You yourself, Jeff, noted when they performed, they needed to engage even when it wasn't their "killing point" time or the camera wasn't necessarily on them. So when it does come your way, I find it smart that Sunoo had the presence of mind to engage with the viewers in just the few seconds. It reinforces his connection with his fandom and why the SNS they were showing were basically showing versions of "Sunoo, Fighting!" It's unclear as to why he ranked so low on the final voting, why his fans thought he was "safe" when his previous global voting was so high (#1). This is all moot but I wonder if he wonders about it sometimes - it seems unnecessary to ponder about it, life goes on but it did seem overly dramatic and he's a sensitive kid.

There was a moment when Taehyung went off script and mentioned how the I-Landers had so much food in their facility and he compared it to their (BTS) early years, the paucity of their resources, especially when it came to food. He wasn't being unkind, he just noticed the difference - it's really a testament in how far BTS/Big Hit has come in such a short time. Another scene that likely hit home is the group reunion in the practice room. BTS (at least in the formative years) were always a lone wolf group (I mean in their own agency as compared to say SM) - they had no sunbaenim, no junior members, just themselves to rely on. It was a lonely existence but it made them stronger as a group. That scene of 22 young boys/men, all able to rely on each other for love/support, is heartwarming, and a huge leap from where BTS was not 10 years earlier where their peers (fellow street rappers) were distancing themselves for fear of being ridiculed.

I just subscribed and immediately binge watched iland with you again. Seeing them again in iland and then now makes me so proud. They’ve come so far. Thank you for watching iland I enjoyed your commentary and we actually shared the same thoughts on a lot of stuff! Oh by the way en-o’clock is back yeyyy it’s their variety show. i really enjoyed your reactions & constructive criticism that you gave! i totally agree with what you said about sunoo being picked over k, bc as much as i like k i think sunoo brings a little something extra to the group. i think producers probably saw that too that with sunoo they’d have a little more variety and not be so restricted to one image. i didnt get to vote bc i watched i land after it was already over but i was there for enhypen & hi & their debut & everything else, but i think sunoo’s supporters got suuuper complacent that he would debut so they voted for their second choice members thinking that sunoo was already going to debut even without their votes which is where they went wrong. i think the same thing happened with heeseung like you have two of the favorite ilanders place lower than usual bc people were essentially panic voting for their second favorite members. i do agree with the final lineup but it was still so unfortunate bc i liked k too but i think sunoo was the better pick overall especially bc if producers didn’t pick him they would probably lose a lot of supporters that enhypen could have after iland bc sunoo wouldn’t be there. enhypen is now one of my ults tho & im still looking forawrd to seeing the japan unit debut!

When you talked about wanting to see J-Hope as a judge or a mentor, it reminded me of the chinese survival show Idol Producer 2 (Quing Chun You Ni also called Youth with You) where Minghao from Seventeen was a dance trainer. I really liked seeing him on that show. You should check it out if you have time !

I remember getting worried when I saw people saying on twitter "Sunoo is safe start voting for so and so." I never stopped voting for him because I got anxious that he wouldn't make it all of a sudden and he almost didn't. I was watching this live and felt nauseous because he had been my number one from the beginning. And then because of him being the producers choice, so much hate and rude stuff was written about him online right after and I felt awful for him. I'm glad he was chosen though because if you think about it, he was number 1 fan choice always, he was chosen by Seventeen for a performance challenge, he has incredibly stable vocals and an idol personality. He never left the debut group status after leaving part 1 of Iland. It made sense in my mind. I do like K though and I really want to see him and all these other guys thrive elsewhere. They all deserve it.

sunoo made more sense to me for being picked by the producers because I feel like he added more to the team than k. I felt like k and niki were too much similar in the sense that both are japanese member who are both incredible dancer and neither of the two brought something different vocally... So it's much better for them to shine in different group. And especially now that we know enhypen concept, I think sunoo fits more into the group.

Even in the first episode of I-LAND when the first unit entered (Jake, Sunoo and Youngbin) it showed that Jake was a Belift / Hybe trainee for 9 months, Sunoo was a trainee for 10 months in Belift / Hybe and Youngbin 4 months as a Belift / Hybe trainee. Belift / Hybe. So, I do not understand why you always say in your reactions that Jake was a trainee only for 3 months when that it's not true and it's wrong.

Jake was a Belift/HYBE trainee for more than 9 months and if you add the 3 months and half that they were in I-LAND it is more than one year of training. He did not trained 3 months like you said and I do not know where did you get that info from, but it is wrong.

I honestly think even if there was no Japan unit they would‘ve still put Sunoo in the group looking at the age range! he fits in perfectly in the middle, while K is after all almost 10 years older than Ni-Ki and even 4? years older than Heeseung (the oldest). That is something to consider looking at the target demographic of the group. Or even with the dynamics in the group - of course they all get along but you are at a very different point in your life when you are 16 and 24

Congrats to the 7 who deservedly debuted with Enhypen. Bittersweet for me as 4 of my favs got in but K my other fav did not. After all said, seen & done, I just want to note it here that K was a great caring hyung. Even midway Iland, K was the one chosen the most by them as the real brother they would love to have in Dear Diary Q&A & then in the finale we saw that the boys decided & chose K as their leader, testaments of how they loved & respected him. I’m going to miss this, but not really because you’re doing more Enhypen! Yay! As for your question about reality content, I think their EN O’Clocks are really hilarious at times. I love them. ENHYPEN&HI is more chill but also funny at times and necessary. Their chemistry is so good. So looking forward to it! Even if I had watched this live I would have immediately thought Sunoo was going to be chosen as the producers pick too. I would have been surprised with any other outcome just from a purely business outlook. There was too much crossover with K already. The group already had a Japanese representative, so that wasn’t lacking. It had great dancers, great vocalists, great leaders, great visuals. Unfortunately, as amazing as K is in all those areas, he doesn’t bring anything “new” whereas Sunoo bring the one thing that was glaringly lacking from the group in his ability to do facial expressions and cute concepts AND he proved previous to have a large global appeal even if they all thought he’d be safe and cast votes elsewhere (I really think this might be what happened for Heeseung too being so low). It’s a business and that was a business like choice to make regardless of who you think is more talented. Obviously if you made it that far, you’re talented enough. After that it’s strategic. At the beginning you said votes from that day wouldn’t make much difference. You didn’t realize the power of JK 😂. Maybe Jungwon would have still gotten 1st place votes, but JK calling him out personally for the final voting guarantee added a good # to his overall total. Maybe not enough to change much. Maybe a lot. Who knows. But JK says a word and people tend to flock, so I think it probably did help a little more than your normal same day vote casts usually would. Thank you again for watching with us and all your hard work. You are the only reactor so far I have actually watched episode 12 with I think. The other spend so much time bashing the global voters, which I have many thoughts on, but they don’t pertain one bit to you. So thanks for being awesome!

Honestly I say this anyone asks me about the final iland line up, before I even think about switching out a member I would MAKE THEM A 9 member group. Like I see no reason that would not work with the right songs after watching them preform in this episode. But I’m so glad you decided to watch this and I hope you will do more reactions in the future like checking out Geonu in his new group JUSTB they are absolutely amazing and perfect for him, and also after Daniel had strong SM rumors I have a very very tiny slim piece of hope they he is gonna be in NCT Hollywood, because he the Korean American they looking for

I honestly don't think K would've "meshed" well with enhypen, cause he has such a strong presence like heesung, so sunoo would've been a better 'fit' for the team dynamics. They're both very talented and I'm sure K will do well in the japan unit!

man i remember how nervous i was when watching this broadcast 😭 also I’m pretty sure jhope was a mentor for a show (only for an episode tho) but his advice was 💯 imo i don’t think he’s under appreciated as a DANCER bc most fans agree that he’s the best dancer in bts along w/ listing him as one of the best dancers in kpop.

I think the reason producers chose Sunoo over K might be because they wanted to keep the average age of the group very young and K 97liner who is 4 years older than enhypen's oldest 01liner (heeseung) might also be the reason

all the episodes were live quick subs when they were released so the last episode having live subs was the same as all the other episodes to answer your question. they had a live stream for each episode on youtube same with Girls Planet 999 they also had quick subs for each stream before the official sub came out

So I watched this already but when they gave the reasoning behind the group name….it made me realize why every album has a song with 2 words connected by a hyphen…..Given-Taken and Drunken-Dazed. I think the new album has a similar title too. Can’t believe that just clicked lol.
