SFX? (One-time sound effects) - Please vote
Added 2021-03-22 17:05:21 +0000 UTCGreetings Patrons,
I was working on a new collaboration with a mapmaker, when suddenly I thought about exporting sound effects (think : a door opening, a laser rifle shot, a trap trigger, etc.)
Until now, I was kind of against that idea, as my ambiences to-do list is already GIGANTIC and I feared to clutter it even more with specific SFX. However, I thought that instead of focusing on them when I work on a new pack, I could simply be opportunistic. What does that mean ?
When I work on a new ambiences pack, I listen to hundreds of SFX, instruments and such. Not all of them end on a piece, most are discarded. But sometimes, while meddling with these sounds, I think "Oh, that can't be used for a whole ambience, but that sounds cool as an effect!". Then I could simply export these SFX or make variants of them.
It certainly represents a bit more work (+10-20% for each pack), but it's a cost I'm definitely ready to accept (otherwise I wouldn't notify you with that post). Would that represents something useful for you ?
To me as an artist, it's also a way to keep growing and learning new things, as I believe one needs to reinvent himself all the time to stay on the top.
Just to make things clear : I won't replace ambiences/music packs by SFX packs. It's closer to a simple "more content" option. I don't know for which tiers though. It's just a general idea.
Feedback welcome!
Thank you for your patronage
Michael
EDIT: Just to make things clearer, I won't simply share what comes out of SFX packs I buy (that would be illegal). I mean creating new SFX by heavily reworking them/merging sounds together, etc. So completely new sounds.

Done! That's definitely a good idea (again). Thank you. However, don't expect all propositions to be made though. I'm sure you know it (but to make it clear in case someone reads that comment).

I don't see the point of cluttering your folders with thousands of everyday sounds. I'll focus on meaningful things. The only exception to that rule would be : If I'm doing a collaboration with a mapmaker or a writer for scenario, and that "everyday sound" is important in that setting, then I may export it. But I think it makes sense.
