Hey friends, I have wanted to bring you for some time a little bit of what my workflow is to make one of the renders that you will see in the novel soon.

I hope this is at least a little interesting to you.

First of all I start with something really simple. Just pulling and pushing edger in super smooth mode to emulate a sculpting tool to create a kind of a terrain. After that I place the camera into an interesting place to have a good angle.

Then I just add a basic texture that I always download just googleing something like: "Royalty free tiled texture" and the word that I'm looking for, that, in this case is "grass" of "forest floor".

After that I just add a generic ambiance light.

After that, I need a lot of patience to place a good amount of trees in key places to have the sensation of not having a poor or a not-so-dense forest. That's why the trees in the front are so important, they hide a good amount of space that you don't have to feel.

When the key trees are in place I proceed to put weeds, bushes, and better illumination into the scene and a good amount of trees that are placed randomly into the background by a plugin.

Little details like trunks, and little stones are quite important to give the scene a not so generic feeling.

When you already have an acceptable detail in the scene, you can proceed to take care of the look and feel of the scene, like, if you wanna make it spooky, uncanny, (which is my case), or dreaming, and you can achieve that with the light, so, I just play with the values of my ambiance lights.

After that I start adding a spookier atmosphere which, in this case is a light fog that blows , in my opinion, a good peaceful but also uncanny and spooky ambiance. Tweaking the lights is always important to keep going closer and closer into what you wanna do.

This is, basically, my workflow with all the backgrounds that you will gonna see in the game.
