Agree with all of your thoughts. But I don't think we should mention anything that comes beyond the current episode though. He wants to watch it the same way everyone did the first time.

Such great glimpses of the machine's backstory in this one. I'm always partial to Harold & Nathan flashbacks. The way Harold's always taking precautions to stay in the shadows. Love that he doesn't want credit, he just wanted to create. One of my favorite scenes is the $1 reveal during Nathan's meeting with Weeks & Corwin. Harold & Nathan are billionaires already... and it shows that they're not in it for exploitive purposes.

This is a great episode. The stuff about Carter and the CIA in my opinion was meant to show that Carter is not just some random cop. Also, the CIA guys are overconfident and easily played. The scenes with Nathan Weeks and Corwin are some of the best part of this show. To answer your question about how they have so much money. Harold and Nathan were billionaires before they started building the machine. Corwin and Weeks are not NSA. It is explained later that they have other covers. Not sure if you have gotten to it yet but there is an episode in the future with NSA involvement and it basically shows how they use the information from the machine.

This is such a fun episode, it's still part of the fairly predictable procedural form but it has just enough mixup on the general formula to keep it fresh and every character is on point. I think after pretty much every mid-season/season finale, the baseline procedural episode of the show improved as the writers and filmmakers became more confident, and because of that it's probably my favourite up to this point (although episodes 4 and 7 are more significant and generally better written).

Haven't watched yet. But I love this one. The case itself is pretty standard fare... but there's so much to enjoy with all the Rear Window nods, Finch & Reese's role reversal, and the flashbacks.
