I suspect the answer might be is it ends with an implication of more to come in the story and we have (more important) things to do, people to see, people to meet, intentions to uncover etc etc. Fun fact I saw an article saying that Fringe is trending on HBO's streaming service - they spent the pandemic talking revival so fingers crossed and whatnot; money trumps everything, things like that are so important if we're going to get over that final hurdle.

2023-02-07 22:49:23 +0000 UTCIt did air on Fox in S2... but on a special night as a bonus episode. That's how it got called 2x11. Though all it did was confuse fans... and mess up the true numbering on the subsequent airing episodes. Luckily that is corrected on the dvds by just putting it in the bonus features. HBOmax has it as 1x21... and weirdly, I believe it was filmed as 1x21, but intended to be slotted in earlier. Because you definitely don't want this one between the S1 finale and the S2 opener.
