I agree with you. I really liked the show, but my expectations were higher. My favorite stories were, by far, the stranger and the dworfs. But I thought many things weren't explained very well and some were just there for a stretch of the plot. The three "strangers" calling the stranger Sauron by mistake was very forced. It didn't get the point that was expected, because I didn't believe it a bit. Anyways, thanks for the reactions and I'll watch season two too.
