Let's start with the save system. I was despairing about getting this done because I'm not a programmer, and finding a way to have it running would have taken me I don't know how long. Fortunately, a nice subscriber (ButterflyBriolette) reached out and offered to help. So even though I did the graphic design, all the code was done by them. A big thanks to them! You can see in the screenshots what it looks like in-game. There are still some little tweaks to do, but it's functional, so it's already a big improvement! There’s also a load screen accessible from the quick menu and the title screen menu. One little detail ButterflyBriolette added that I loved was removing the button to load a save from the title screen if no saves were detected. It's a great little addition to the system. I spent two weeks working (at a bit more relaxed pace) and focused mainly on finishing a slew of backgrounds. I tried to get a unified palette for the exterior. Maybe it's a bit too strong in terms of colors, but I'll see what it looks like with the characters integrated. It was quite a big chunk, so it's a relief that a lot of backgrounds are done. Since I changed the color palette for the exterior, I also went back and reworked the other backgrounds. Some were just quick edits, like changing the tile color in Ms. Mack's bathroom, but others, like the playground, took way more time. Finally, I reworked the relationship panels to integrate new biography text and a new variable! This variable is going to change for each character and be a kind of meter of the way you orient the relationship. And that's about it. On Wednesday, I'll be back to working on the game on a regular schedule!
