Song of the Month: It Came Upon The Midnight Clear

A bit different this month! Celebrating the release of "The Sacrifice Game" film tomorrow on Shudder! Director/writer Jenn Wexler (friend and also the director of "The Ranger") reached out to me while I was on my UK tour earlier this year asking if I could pull together a public domain golden-era sounding Christmas song cover within a week.

My rule is: unless it is actually impossible, you can figure out a way to get something done.

I recorded the vocals and core arrangement using basic midi in my hotel rooms in Nottingham and London. Then I fired the tracks off to Mike Ferretti to replace the mediocre logic sounds, spice up the drum and bass midi parts and mix in a way that felt close to the era/genre. While it's still pretty obvious that the instruments aren't real listening through headphones, in the context of the film it sounds totally authentic coming through a radio during one of the scenes.
