Vehicle Innovation

You seek to radically alter the world of transportation. Soon, horses will be a thing of the past, and machines made of steel will rule the roads… and beyond! You gain a Prototype Vehicle, and become trained in Driving Lore. When your proficiency in Crafting increases, your proficiency in Driving Lore does too. When you increase in level, the DCs, Hardness and saves of your Prototype Vehicle increase by 1, and the HP of the Vehicle increases by 6 (with the BT increasing to be half of the vehicle's total HP). You reduce the penalties to attack rolls while on your vehicle when it moves or uses an action with the reckless trait to 0 and -2 respectively. Your vehicle counts as partial cover when you Drive it. When you increase your proficiency in Driving Lore, you also increase the damage die of your vehicle’s collision damage by 1. When you use the Overdrive action, your vehicle gains the same damage bonus to its collision damage and it increases its speeds by 5 feet, or 10 feet if you get a critical success. If you critically fail your Overdrive with your vehicle, it also takes damage.

Choose one initial vehicle modification to apply to your innovation, either from the following or from other initial vehicle modifications to which you have access. These modifications alter the vehicle's abilities or form.
- Deft Weaver You’ve ensured that your ride can slide through cramped spaces, missing obstacles by a hair’s breadth. When you Drive through a space occupied by a creature, you can make a Driving Lore check in place of an Acrobatics check to Tumble Through that creature’s space. If you get a failure, you must immediately make an additional Driving Lore check to Stop, falling prone on a failure. You cannot end your movement in a creature’s space.
- Expanded Frame Your vehicle is big enough to carry multiple people. It is expanded to size Large, expanding its maximum dimensions by 10 feet in all dimensions. Your vehicle can carry up to 6 passengers.
- Mounted Weaponry Your vehicle has a cannon of some sort built into it. While on your vehicle, when you use a 2-action or 3-action Drive, you can also make a ranged strike using ammunition in your vehicle. This Strike deals 1d6 piercing or bludgeoning damage with the fatal d10 with a range of 60 feet in the firearm group. This weapon has a reload of 1 and you can Reload as part of taking a 2-action or 3-action Drive. You can apply runes to this mounted weapon.
- Portable Mode Your vehicle can fold in on itself to come with you through spaces that it would normally have difficulty with. As a 3-action activity, it can reduce its size to Small (or Tiny, if you are Small) and be carried by you as an item of 3 Bulk, such as on your back or held in your hand. It is a two-action activity to redeploy the vehicle.
- Protective Bubble Your vehicle has its own atmosphere, allowing you to brave dangerous environments. As part of a Drive, you can raise or lower a surrounding transparent barrier for your vehicle that allows you to safely breath the air inside it for up to 1 minute (after which, you must hold your breath). This barrier has AC 10, Hardness 5, and a number of Hit Points equal to twice your level. While this barrier is raised, you do not have line of effect to creatures outside of it and they do not have line of effect to you (though they still have line of sight). If this barrier is broken or destroyed, you can Repair it as normal.
- Ram Build The machine you pilot is specially designed to physically bash into others. Run Over becomes a two action activity rather than one. When you Collide with someone or something, you, your passengers and your vehicle only take damage if the Collision would halt your movement, such as driving into a wall rather than knocking someone over. You can apply weapon runes to your vehicle's frame.
- Safety Measures With your penchant for dangerous driving, you ensure that things don’t go wrong… if you can manage it. When your vehicle becomes uncontrolled, it immediately attempts to Stop, using your Driving Lore or Crafting check, whichever is higher.
- Scanner System Your vehicle comes built in with an array that lets you seek out creatures or specific materials in a radius. You can make a Seek by while on your vehicle, which grants you either tremor sense or wavesense as an imprecise scent with a range of 30 feet for the purposes of this check. When you Overdrive your vehicle, the range of these senses increase by the same amount as its speeds.

BREAKTHROUGH MODIFICATIONS
- Amphibious Vehicle Your vehicle can dive underwater rather than simply staying on land. It gains a swim Speed equal to its Speed. Your vehicle gains an air tank and apparatus for breathing in water that allows its passengers to breath in water for up to 1 hour. After 1 hour, creatures must hold their breath and the vehicle must refill its air tank by returning to a location with breathable air.
- Booster Drive You travel at breakneck speeds. Your vehicle’s Speed increases to 60 feet. When you Overdrive your vehicle, its speeds increase by an additional 5 feet on a success or 10 feet on a critical success.
- Spell Engine You can plant a magic item directly into the core of your machine, allowing strange things to happen. Your vehicle gains a single item slot, within which you can insert an item capable of Casting a Spell, such as a scroll, spellheart, or wand. As a two-action activity, you can use a Driving Lore check to activate the item to Cast a Spell. You can only store one item within your spell engine at a time.
- Tank Build Your vehicle is made to withstand the most direct of attacks. When you Drive, your vehicle counts as standard cover instead of partial cover and you can use the Take Cover action to gain greater cover from your vehicle. It increases the HP it gains per level to 10 rather than 6 (granting it an additional 4 x your level HP now.)
- Wall Crawler Whether through spider-like appendages or gripping tracks, your vehicle can drive on walls and ceilings as easily as floors. Your vehicle gains a climb Speed equal to its land Speed or swim Speed, whichever is higher.
- Weapon System Upgrade You only mount the greatest weapons aboard your vehicle. You give the ranged weapon on your vehicle a Weapon Innovation modification appropriate for its. You must have the Mounted Weapon modification to select this modification.

REVOLUTIONARY MODIFICATIONS
- Bigger On The Inside Your vehicle does not follow the traditional rules of space-time. You create a demiplane as if through a successful Create Demiplane ritual, and it exists inside your vehicle. The driver’s seat and a number of passenger seats do not exist within the demiplane. People inside the demiplane cannot aid you in combat due to the ethereal lag between worlds. If your vehicle is destroyed, the contents of the demiplane are lost until you build a new vehicle.
- Flux Dispersal Your vehicle can travel through the most dangerous terrain of all: time. When you take this modification, you gain the Chronoskimmer Dedication and one additional feat from the Chronoskimmer archetype for which you meet the prerequisites. You gain the ability to use these feats and their effects only while you are on your vehicle. During your daily preparations, you can choose to replace the additional feat you gained from this modification to another qualifying feat.
- Flying Machine The sky's the limit for your vehicle. Your vehicle gains a fly Speed equal to its Speed. When the vehicle Stops, it can instead choose to hover in place.
- Power Drill You have a drill built into your vehicle that can bore through any surface. Your vehicle gains a burrow speed equal to its land Speed and can displace up to 5 feet of earth, rock, or stone as an activity that takes 1 minute.
- Ultra Mega Cannon Your vehicle has a secondary form: an ultra mega cannon. As a two-action activity, your vehicle can reconfigure itself into a full fledged siege weapon of your level or lower, gaining the size and proficiency requirements of the chosen siege weapon for 1 minute. You can load your vehicle pre-emptively with any ammunition it would need while in its vehicle form, allowing it to be fired without a crew when it first transforms. Your vehicle’s crew size is the same as the siege weapon you chose, but when you are a part of this crew, you count as 4.
- Warp Drive Your vehicle is capable of crossing tremendous distances. While you are on your vehicle, you can cast dimension door (4th level) as part of a 2-action Drive once per hour, or teleport (7th level) as part of a 3-action Drive once per day. These spells carry all creatures within the vehicle. If sufficiently powered up, it may even be able to cross through even greater distances, such as space travel, subject to GM discretion with a powerful enough power source.
Comments
Not sure if anyone has tried this yet. I am tweaking it to fit size rules RAW for vehicles, and I am thinking of breaking the 'Extended Frame' innovation into two or three separate parts, with it getting bigger each time.
