New Investigator Methodology: Happenstance

Happenstance Methodology

Some find the answers they seek through carefully peeling back the layers of a question, but you find that inserting yourself directly into the mix of things derives answers much faster! Your lack of expertise is rectified by circumstantial ability. Interaction with others serves as a better conduit to answering questions.

Your key ability score is Charisma instead of Intelligence and when you use Devise a Stratagem you add your Charisma modifier to your attack roll instead of Intelligence when choosing to replace your Strength or Dexterity modifier. You are trained in Society and 1 additional skill plus your intelligence modifier at level 1 instead of the normal amount.

You gain the Untrained Improvisation general feat, even though you don't meet its level prerequisite. In addition, you can use the trained actions for skills even though you are untrained and can select skill feats that would require trained proficiency for with skill feats gained from the skillful lessons class feature. If you’re 11th level or higher, you can skill feats that would require you to be an expert with the skillful lessons class feature.

Circumstantial Accusation [reaction]

Feat 4

Auditory Investigator Linguistic Mental

Prerequisites happenstance methodology

Trigger You just attempted a skill action for an Intelligence-, Wisdom-, or Charisma-based skill against a creature.

You make a bold accusation based on circumstantial evidence that puts your target off their guard. You make a Sense Motive or Recall Knowledge with that creature as the target with a +2 circumstance bonus to your check. If you succeed, you announce an accusation against that target and they become stupefied 1 for 1 round, or for 1 minute if your check was a critical success. Other creatures that consider the triggering creature an ally do not consider the creature as an ally while they are stupefied. The creature and their allies can attempt to remove these effects by attempting a Sense Motive to levy the accusation using your class DC as the DC for the Sense Motive. Your accusation may not necessarily be true, but it must conceivably be possible and attempted accusations that are demonstrably false automatically fail. Regardless of the result, the triggering creature is immune to your Circumstantial Accusation for 1 day.

Ah yes, the Inspector Clouseau methodology

It's the Columbo methodology, nice. :-D (If columbo was much more bumbling)
