A follow up from yesterday's post. We want YOU to vote for the next 4 Patrons in Witches+! Here's 13 ideas; the highest 4 will make it into the final book.
1. Artifact: A haunted sword... an empowered necklace... a softly whistling whip... you clutched a weapon one day for some reason, and have made an eternal contract with it now and forever. It channels its mystical power through you in a way nobody else can. Arcane spells.
2. Wish: You might serve a mighty genie, or maybe you sold your soul in exchange for one impossible wish. Whatever the case, you now find yourself with the power to grant wishes to others... perhaps, sometimes following those wishes to the exact letter. Arcane spells.
3. Wyrm: Your patron is a powerful dragon, who has given you a fraction of their mighty power. You serve their interests around the world, perhaps communing far more actively with your master than other witches might. Arcane spells.
4. Dead God: You worship a religion that has fallen apart after the death of its god, like Aroden, Curchanus or Deskari. Over time, as organized worship has fallen, your strange practices have gained the power of something else, and though you might tell yourself your god empowers you from beyond death, the truth is likely far more mysterious. Divine spells.
5. Grace: Your patron blesses you with a supernatural beauty and grace in everything you do and say. Your presence is calming, your magic purifying, and all those who cross your path can tell that there is something beyond mortal gently guiding your hand. Divine spells.
6. Horsemen: War, Plague, Pestilence and Death either bless or curse you as you do the bidding of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. What dark tidings will you bring as you summon your ethereal steed..? Divine spells.
7. Flame: Witches borne from flames, empowered by the inferno, and granted strange gifts from dragons, elementals and fey alike. Primal spells.
8. Monster: You serve an exceptionally powerful beast, like King Mogaru, Fafnheir or some other mighty creature. With your beast-spells, you channel a fraction of their legendary power, to become one yourself! Primal spells.
9. Spring: Life blooms and grows at your touch, the antithesis to the brutal cold of cruel winter witches. You might have the blessing of a nymph queen, a Green Man, or even the essence of spring itself. Wherever you go, flowers and smells follow. Primal spells.
10. Storm: Whether you are bound to a storm hag coven or carry the feather of a thunderbird, the wild winds and hungry lightning are your playthings to control. Primal spells.
11. Form: A part of your body is not your own. Perhaps you have the arm of a great reptilian beast, an eye that once belonged in the skull of a devil, or twisting hair cursed by a ghost. No matter the source, you power sinister abilities through your body, pushing you to fight in ways antithetical to how a caster might. Occult spells.
12. Time: Maybe you're from another era. Maybe you have made a contract with a temporal being from beyond our world. Maybe your patron... is yourself from the future, granting you the seeds of power that ultimately made them great. Time is yours to control! Occult spells.
13. Uncanny: Your patron shows its powers in ways that are not quite right, unusual and strange. Your familiar might have an off-putting appearance, and your magic makes people feel uncomfortable in ways they can't understand. Occult spells.
