After rewatching Close Encounters, I noticed I missed your comment. No heat necessary Mike! :)

This movie and Fire in the Sky are responsible for why Iโ€™d sleep so scared of aliens coming to get me lol

Also, there were actually four versions of the movie that were released. There was the original 1977 version, and then in 1980, the movie was re-released as the Special Edition where they cut some scenes, added new scenes, and put in alternate versions of some scenes. In the 1980s, there was a third version, the one I only knew until the 1990s, which was the ABC TV version, which was basically the Special Edition with scenes from the original (power plant scene, extended firing scene, extended speech with the musical notes, press conference, and Roy tearing up the back yard) spliced back into the movie. Then in 1997, they came out with the director's cut (Collector's Edition on DVD), which was then released on the big screen in 2017. While the director's cut is the best, I'd say the ABC version would be a close second, the original in 3rd, and the special edition in 4th. One thing that the Special Edition did do right was at the last half of the end credits after the mothership fades from view. In the original and director's cut, the music abruptly changes to music from earlier in the movie while the Special Edition and ABC versions continue to fade into a rendition of When You Wish Upon a Star.

Airlines discourage their flight crews from reporting UFO sightings. That's why the TWA and Air East crews didn't report the near collision with what they'd seen. Similar issue happened after the crash of Eastern flight 401 in the Florida Everglades in the 70s. Salvageable non-critical parts (seats, microwaves, etc.) from the crash were reused in other Eastern L-1011 planes for a short while afterwards. When that happened, both crews and passengers began seeing apparitions of the dead crew members, hearing voices, etc. on those flights. The stories got to be so frequent that Eastern threatened to fire employees who were telling about their experiences because they didn't want that kind of publicity. Similarly, airlines don't want their flight crews reporting UFOs because they don't want that kind of publicity. Although, I do agree with you that they should report it since pilots are trained to be able to identify what they see and make credible witnesses during sightings.

The use of lights in this movie is really great. I love how communication was the most important aspect of the film. It wasn't about hostility or any type of friendly encounters. It was just communication mostly. "What is it with older movies and people cheating?!" - LOL That made me laugh.

Looking forward to this video. This movie is my #3 favorite movie.

I will take the heat if anyone has a problem with the Directorโ€™s Cut. Leave your comments below. ๐Ÿคฃ
