The amount of time in the series that we were shown those funny interactions between Malarkey and his buddies (Skip Muck & Alex Penkala) were almost like a premonition after seeing this series. It's a tough realization because you could see how close those guys were. But yet it wasn't necessarily predictable though. I mean you didn't know what to expect going into this series for the first time. I read about it being an interesting process for how they filmed those tree bursts from the shelling. Spielberg had a former special effects supervisor work on it with him. I think they nailed it pretty good because it doesn't get much more realistic than that. I can't even imagine constant shelling going off all around you like that.
