I know that somebody is bound to mention this sooner or later, but Albert Blithe never actually died. He survived his wounds and returned to the U.S. The only reason they chose to kill him off in the series was because apparently Easy Company had no clue what happened to him in reality. It wasn't until after production of the series that it was discovered that he survived the war.
