2024-07-08 13:29:29 +0000 UTCYes I’ll second checking out The Pacific. I think of it as a second season to this even if it’s it’s own story. Also there is a documentary that aired after the final episode that’s also on MAX it deals with the real people this story is based on and acts as the postscript to the series.

2024-07-07 03:25:02 +0000 UTCThere are some familiar faces in this series that may be a bit difficult to notice at times. The guy who plays Bill Guarnere is actor Frank John Hughes who was also in the movie Catch Me If You Can. He played one of the FBI agents that teamed with Tom Hanks character. Also, it may be a bit difficult to notice, but Private Christiansen is Michael Fassbender. You might also notice some familiar faces from replacements (soldiers brought in as recruitments later on, or to replace those that were killed). I'm glad that I saw Saving Private Ryan before seeing this series. It really made it even more perfect for me. Since this is only the European Campaign, I should mention that Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg did a follow up series in 2010 called "The Pacific" and it details events in the Pacific Campaign.
