Japan Trip

I have an exciting announcement: I'll be taking a trip to Japan in May, over my birthday!

I've been planning this trip for a few months now, but I was waiting until I bought the tickets to make the announcement. Visiting Japan is something I've been wanting to do for years. The stars finally aligned for me to go this year.

I'll be taking off from May 5 to May 24, so nearly the entire month of May. I expect May will be a pretty light month for Patreon, although I might upload some things from my trip, like if I do any plein air drawing while I'm there. I wanted to let folks know in case anyone wants to pause their pledge for May. On the other hand, if you want to let it ride and help support me while I'm away on vacation, I would super appreciate that too!

(One of the biggest downsides to working for yourself is that if you take any time off then you're not making money, and that can be really hard sometimes.)

I plan to spend about one week traveling the country and one week in Tokyo. I haven't yet figured out a specific itinerary for my trip though, so if anyone has any suggestions of things to do or see, let me know.

Oh nice! I hope you have a fantastic time!

Try to visit the bunny island. ^^

Hell yeah dude! I got to go to Japan once years ago and it was amazing. I can't think of any specific places to visit, but their pedestrian focused infrastructure and ease of travel left me envious lol. Have fun! (Oh quick note tho, public restrooms and trash cans are nearly nonexistent, so plan accordingly. It surprised the hell outta me lol.)

I might be able to attend :> I was planning to do a week in Tokyo and a week traveling. I could possibly be in Osaka on May 18. I will look into it!

Cool, thank you so much!

I am Japanese. I welcome your visit to Japan. KEMOKET10 will be held on May 18th. It is a furry doujinshi sale event in Japan. You will need to prepare in order to participate, but please come if you can. As a Japanese person, I can support you with information about your trip.

There are so many. Try Shimane prefecture. It’s far out of the way, but it was considered the land of the gods since before writing. It’s got some of the holiest shrines, a door to hell, the Adachi art museum, and yokai. Not to mention it’s basically where the forest god lives in Princess Mononoke. Enjoy your time here!

Awesomeness wish I was going soon too. Though I also planon permanently moving there as soon as humanly possible

I'm making a list now, but tentatively I'm going to try spending about a week traveling south and west, and then a week in and around Tokyo. I suppose a few 'tourist traps' are inevitable, like around Mt. Fuji. x) But I'm still going to check it out

I'm really looking forward to trying the food!

Pulsar

That sounds amazing! Congratulations! Be sure to eat lots of good food while you're there. I can't wait to hear about it all once you're done~

A fine choice of travel locations. What kind of stuff do you want to see? As mentioned before, eastern Japan is mostly modern (result of being bombed) and west has the highest concentration of traditional locations (spared). Given tourism in Japan now there’s much to see but I also caution that many of the famous places are overcrowded. Try southern Nara not just Nara city, try Kenninji in Kyoto, and western Tokyo prefecture. There’s a lot to see here away from tourist traps. Enjoy your visit!

ooh, very exciting!! 💙

Cool, yeah I've got Kyoto and Osaka on my list too. At this point I sort of need to figure out what I want to see where. But I'm definitely going to be checking those places out if I can

Pulsar

I recommend going west of Tokyo to Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara! Tokyo is very modern. Kyoto is very traditional.

Awesome! :D I am overjoyed for you, and I hope it's an amazing experience. :}

Get some good photos for yourself to remember it!
