Another animation complete! Here's the week's breakdown (at least the concise version)
1.. The long weekend was nice. Gave a chance to recover and rethink future direction of art and the like. Nothing drastic, just need to change up scheduling and methods. I may start some polls across subs to see how some of you might feel about the changes which won't be made abruptly.
2.. Tuesday got ate up by family matters.
3.. Found ways to optimize the rendering even more, shaved off 2 minutes per frame. Could've done an extra 30-40s, but savings wouldn't have been worth it this time. Will utilize this method in the next project as this one is already late.
4.. Did up the alternate angle including lighting within thursday, rendered it overnight.
- Biggest rendering culprits were large areas of gradient shadows and ambient occlusion. Did lots of comparison tests to find a happy middle in ray sampling so renders don't look like a noisy mess.
- Wide shot took 7+ hours to render, not accounting for setup time.
- Close-up took 10.5 hours, again, not accounting for setup.
5.. Upcoming commissioned work will be a sculpt (one of many phases). I'll be posting WIPs and warmups from next week.
6.. Next animation will be featuring the deerboy.
